Sync app for folders

What is the best fire and forget app on PC running in the back and syncing folders from one to the other the moment both folders are available. Deleting from and copying files to destination? Preferably non bloat.

AllwaySync used to be my go-to, but they moved to a subscription model.

I’ve been testing MirrorFolder with good success, but it costs $45 - which I don’t have a huge problem with vs. subscription. They have a good full feature trial period that you can use to test if it satisfies your needs.

Thanks will try MirrorFolder. There is software that is worth it. People complain about the HereSphere price. I find it worth every penny.

SyncThing is free, open source, and very flexible. It has clients for Windows, MacOS, Linux, and NASes.

+100 for syncthing you won’t find a better software.

MirrorFolder is quite what I need specialized for local folder sync it seems . Syncthing is more something between devices and online, no?

From their forums

Oh wait nvm I didn’t realize this was local device only.
You can probably just use robocopy in that case.

Yeah sorry wasn’t clear about that. Will check out RC but MirrorFolder is looking quite neat already.

This page seems to collect them all.

I do manual copies across devices with rclone, not automatically syncing though. You can do daily backups if you want, though. I sync between computers and a network drive, and between external backups.

Thanks @g90ak MirrorFolder just works as a charm. The moment the drive appears it starts syncing. Nice app.

Awesome! Yeah, I use it to sync files I’m doing upscales or HFR’ing between my main computer and one that I use for video processing specifically. Really smooth workflow other than eating up my LAN bandwidth when syncing huge files… might be time for 2.5 or 5gig lan upgrades.
