I’m getting the pro.

Wow, the pro version looks awesome! A couple of questions:

Do you take a limited number of pre-orders via kickstarter, and if so how many?

Is it possible to get accessories with the pre-order? If I am not mistaken, I saw something about an adapter to use it with FL sleeves. I would be very interested in that one.

So the regular compared to the pro has the following differences:

  • Slightly better speed
  • Higher RPM motor
  • Overclocking capabilities
  • More battery capacity
  • Faster charging capability
  • Premium bearings
  • Teflon-coated mechanics

NOTE: i am not trying to complain whatsoever.

Is this worth the extra cash? Why is this better then the original Handy? I am still using the first edition to this day. Someone please convince me why the pro is a good investment

Yeap getting that pro lol

500USD is a juicy price tag. I think the early supporter offers make the Pro version an attractive device at a very reasonable price, but when I’m imagining a regular user being expected to pay 500 for it I could definitely see a lot of potential customers hesitating, and the non-Pro version may feel like “settling for less”. Even if the experience turns out to be excellent.

I’m just a bit worried about some customers being anxious about the decision on which one to buy or whether to wait for a sale. It’s probably not as big of a deal as my emotional reaction is telling me.

There’s also the pressure for people to hurry up and give in to what’s essentially a pre-order.
Usually I’m not a fan of pre-orders, especially when aggressively pushed.

BUT! I think you’ve certainly earned the trust of the community, so pre-ordering your products is a fairly safe decision.

From the information we got, I’d expect smoother movement and a more convenient tactile experience. Probably best to wait until you see it in action. Joining the AMA might be a good idea to get a clear picture.

That’s exactly what i am thinking. The price of the pro at the start of the campaign is a good deal. But i could imagine the $500 pricetag is probably a bit too much for people who haven’t had the experience of the Handy yet.

This is a nice sequel to the Handy but I’m not sure if I’d get it for the $300/$500 base price. That’s getting into OSR2 and SR6 price ranges for what looks to be a single axis stroker.

One of the advantages of the og was that it was at a relatively affordable price range for people just looking to try it out since the other single-axis options are worse or more expensive. The og was always recommended as a first-timers device due to the basic capabilities and the price tag. This has clearly stepped out of that and is going more into the enthusiast price range.

I’m gonna assume they’ll still have og around for a while. Someone will probably make the chart comparing all 3 options with the price tag, cause price is a factor on top of the specs(ie why spend 50% more(comparing base prices of 200, 300, 500) when the base option gets the job done for most people).

$500 i would only spend if this was multi axis, but single i’ll be grabbing the standard

Overclocking alone is already worth it.

idk. 800 mm/s might just shave your duck off lol.

i’d like someone to make a comparison with the gen 1. honestly first glance the gen2 (normal) doesn’t seem like an upgrade.

If I’d get the super early deal I would consider the pro.. not hopeful with the 200 limit though :(.
Besides that only being single axis like gen1 I kinda fail to see the point?

can someone convince me to upgrade? what am I getting over the gen1 besides the battery free experience.
Honestly I hated the cord at first. But before the handy I’ve had many battery toys dying during the act.. so I kinda like the cord now!

Price may seem like a non-starter for some, but I paid over $200 for my V1 a couple years ago and it’s been bullet proof (aside for some temporary FW update issues). I even bought a backup in case the old one died. I’m happy they’ve addressed the majority of enhancements I’ve been wanting and keeping the price reasonable. So yeah, if I can’t get one from the first run because they sell out, I’ll pick one up at full price. I would’ve paid a chunk for a battery-modded original handy if anyone sold those, so all of the extra upgrades on the pro make it worth it IMO.

That said, it looks like my favorite update is going to be the detachable holder and free print files.

It won’t be long before someone creates a BT twist module for that (maybe it will be battery operated too or plug into the USB port). If that happens, the modular design would at least keep the bulk down when viewing the 98% of scripts without multi-axis input.

I imagine they’ll also continue selling “The Original” at a reduced price for those wanting the bare-bones kit or just to have a cheap back-up unit sitting around.

So the standard model doesn’t compete with the ssr1/funsr1 2.0 in performance at all and you’d need to “overclock” the pro model to reach that level of performance? I’m curious to see those inevitable performance comparisons but as of now that seems like a really rough value proposition considering funsr1 2.0 is less than half the retail price of a Handy 2 pro. Guess we’ll have to see how all these other new features contribute to the devices value.

$500 is hard to swallow for people who will be late to the game and not preorder.

When you get to the higher price points, people expect better build quality, customer support, and good warranty.

OG handy, for less than $200, was at a price point where people still understood some issues with it breaking, but with the new version costing much more, people will not be as forgiving if issues arise.

Hoping enough testing for durability has been done.

Same

buy-buy-it
But only at the super early bird prices :hatching_chick:

It also says nothing about torque, which is a worry. The OG handy stalled out waaaaaay easier than a funsr1v2. Sure super slow and fast is cool on paper, but not if it only does that without any load on it.

Also doesn’t mention acceleration. 400-800mm/s at a 125mm length only gets you so far if the acceleration/deceleration aren’t keeping up or aren’t smooth enough.

And this was my biggest disappointment. They edged us for over a week, and showed a bunch of small generational improvements, but never got into the nitty gritty. I want to know how well it handles a full size fleshlight. For $500 the answer better be “it handles it great”, but I’m not gonna hold my breath til I find out…
