Once tempest perfects his SSR2 Alpha(the single-axis with twist), someone will probably make decent bank selling pre-fabs of it.
According to my Amazon purchase history, my first Handy was bought in December 2022. It still works like a champ. In fact I prefer it over the one I purchased after (the slider is a bit stiffer in that one). Since scripting is kind of my livelihood, I cannot afford not having a replacement unit whenever one fails, that’s why I have 2 units (I don’t live in a country where I can purchase one and having it delivered the next morning). Funny thing is, this thing just doesn’t fail on me.
Sure, but that’s already happening with the SSR1. The other axis are actually pretty amazing. I don’t believe taking one step back is taking another step forward.
It doesn’t fail, that’s usually the benefit of having a market to consumer product. I agree, I’ve had mine since 2022 as well and it has given me very few problems. Great, we got the benefit we wanted. The other hobbyist toys just do a better job, with much more power, and allow you to modify them to your heart’s content. If something fails, you don’t send it to some factory and wait 8 months, you buy the piece that failed and fix it quite easily yourself. Some people don’t want to do that though which is totally understandable, but it’s easier and more convenient for some people. Also, it’s usually cheaper lol
I don’t doubt those devices can be a lot better than a Handy or a Handy 2, but at least in my case the two factors that lean me towards The Handy are precisely that it’s a consumer product, something that I take out of the box and just plug and play with minimal effort and that If it fails, I can get a replacement (matter of fact kudos to the guys from Ohdoki who sent me a replacement unit very fast). And the second factor is that I am a scripter, and I sell scripts, so my work aims at the most common device that people have, and that’s The Handy, with any weaknesses it may have.
the ssr1 with a twist is currently not as reliable(from what ive seen in the threads) or widely adopted.
i already have an osr but there needs to be a more widely adopted device in-between single and multiaxis. cause yes multiaxis is good but not everyone wants to jump the shark all the way to the deep end of strokers. which is why everyone keeps asking for twist on single axis.
According to the some wiki site, first commercial product ready was in 2019, so that would’ve been 3 years. We’re not even done with the first year yet.
So yeah this def has some more time before it becomes a solid device. Still technically in the ‘early access’ phase since it doesnt technically officially release till next year march I believe.
I have had a very different experience. I’ve broken a couple of H1s. The only sleeve I can use with it is the widest TruGrip V2. Anything tighter stops very quickly on the downstroke.
In contrast, fully overclocking the H2Pro has opened up additional sleeve options for me. I’ve only had mine a couple months now, but so far it’s been a more pleasurable experience than the H1.
My H1 has been demoted to bedroom duty - my primary space is my office - so I’m still using it until my second H2Pro arrives in March. I definitely notice the difference going between the two and the H2Pro is superior in my experience.
This. I have the same problem. I overclocked mine to go up to 800 (bc I think that 1600 would just be painful on the body AND the desk), and it struggles to do solid full length strokes (not even bounces/vibrations, so clearly not a command spacing issue) that are anywhere between 500 and 600. It just pauses for a split second and resumes, even with 0 load (not even a sleeve attached).
Also it constantly fails to reproduce the last 3-5 seconds of each script.
I’m wondering whether this might be an API or ScriptPlayer issue.
Keep in mind the overclock is just a limit. If your scripts don’t go that fast neither will the Handy. As I mentioned above, the extra torque of the H2Pro overclock is useful.
Yes, I understand 800 is supposed to be the limit. That’s why I’m shocked it struggles to sustain a steady 500…600 (in WiFi mode). It seems to work in manual mode, though, so it might be an API or player issue.
All that multi axis talk points misses that there are a ton of people just being on a couch or in bed wanting to get a quick sessions out - sometimes multiple times a day - which means not having to set up a chair/table etc there for a multi axis device. Sure if you like to sit infront of your desktop/table I get it or if you have make it a rare thing, but there are people like me that use those multiple times per day sometimes. So just getting in a quick hassle free sessions is the reason I mostly prefer the Handy over other devices. It’s easy to hold on my tummy and does its job well (Handy 1 at that). With Handy 2 Pro as a super early bird and still on my first device I don’t have any charging port issues etc. yet, but mostly issues with the motor itself not keeping up I do not maintain it well. If I regrease weekly it’s totally fine and goes down as it should and doesn’t need to heat up for that and also doesn’t skip strokes anymore. It’s certainly a beast if you use the right scripts and I enjoy the wireless mode too and easy usage and setup so there is that, but there are still some issues.
I also use mine in mostly 1200mm/s without issues. Scripts I made for that are… overwhelming though lol. No issues with heat.
Most importantely they should put the starter ClickOn somewhere no one will ever see it again and just make the Extended Version the standard one.
Honestly I really hope The Handy company will release an add-on with twist funscript compatibility. For me it’s really the most wanted feature for the Handy 2 and possibly the Handy 1.
Any chance developers? I hope that once you are done with the handy 2 you can research for that add-on.
I like slow scripts. The twist funscripts would make those very creative imho. There is already creativity in the “up and down” scripts movements but the twist axis could increase that expressionism to a new level imho
After Weeks of use of Handy Pro, first issue encountered : impossible now to detach the Click-On, defintively stuck…
Will be unabled to use others accesory later it seems…
Edit: some oil, and strength, finally managed to detach the ClickOn…
So, it is just me, or does there seem to be a bug when setting legacy bluetooth as default boot mode?
I do this, to make it easier to use Intiface still, as it has not been updated to support new bluetooth protocol.
To reproduce:
Set the legacy mode via safe boot. Start the device, link to intiface central 2.6.8, try to oscillate the handy 2 pro. No movement, the color led freaks out going rgb soup, intiface disconnect and connects, and it seems to loop like that until disconnected or turned off.
Strangely enough, setting the legacy mode via app does not seem to generate this issue.
P.S. The apps states I am on latest official firmware.
yeah, handy 2 pro is nothing special. It should have a fan somewhere as it gets real hot, not even overclocked. The motor is weaker than handy 1’s, likely because they went with a battery. And because they attempt to buy the cheapest possible parts to fulfil the requirements of the design, then use the kickstarter market to test if they went a bit too cheap in various parts, (and things that get no complaints, well lets add some cheap into that). I would say for a fact that the best thing ive owned was the autoblow. that had a great motor, fan, you could pull the sleeves out and fit a flesh light in there with some modifications.
I still have my issues as a super early bird, but all of that is wrong. Your device shouldn’t get real hot except for using overclock and that for a longer time. It gets a little bit warm, but that’s really it as someone using it daily for a long time sometimes in OC (with some really dick destroying scripts). I am pretty sure your rod wasn’t greased correctly and you should contact support to receive a maintenance kit or something else. The only thing that I didn’t like them change was the teflon coating, but according to Jen (Handy engineer), there is a reason for that:

I have some other issues that are suppose to be batch 1 issues like I have to really maintain the rod, and the silicon case detached on the bottom which can make a squeeky sound if the ClickOn attachment is near the bottom sometimes, but I’ll contact soon and will surely just get a replacement that will be fine. Do you use the standard ClickOn? That one is pretty bad imo and they should use the Extender ClickOn as standard. It improves everything a lot.
Also you can use the H2Pro with charging cable attached - it gives 15% more power and a bit more torque.
Hi @Shayuki,
What do you suggest for lubrication on the Handy 2 Pro? I’ve been using CC-Lube on the Handy 1. Applied about every 6-12 months.
Jumping in to suggest this, which has been recommended by several people:
Amazon.com: Super Lube Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease w/ Syncolon - High Temperature, Water & Corrosion Resistant Grease - Workshop & Industrial Use - Food Grade - Translucent White - Tube - 3 oz (21030) : Super Lube: Industrial & Scientific
Great! Thank you!
