The Handy 2 – Final Update

Scripters should have high priority to the Eqrly bid

Me waiting October… :grimacing:

I knoooow, I can live with the higher price but August seemed already so far, now October is an eternity

Power cable shipped yes? I dont need battery here. Different matrix colours and not only white?

Yes, the box includes a USB-C cable. You need a charger or device to plug that into tho.

The LED matrix is not only white; it’s RGB but I’ve only seen white and orange in videos of the device.

Unfortunately, it’s a single-color LED matrix, and the charging cable is just 30 cm. We have to be smart about where we invest our effort — single-color gets the job done, and if you’re like me, you probably have more than enough cables and chargers already. Production costs are already well above those of The Handy 1, which is likely one of the most expensive mass-produced sex toys on the market — around 2–4× more than our nearest competitor :frowning:
Looks like the lighting or post-editing made the LED appear multi-colored. That wasn’t our intention — it’s not RGB, and we’re sorry if it gave that impression.

I can’t convince you to get one, it’s up to you if it’s worth it or not. But I can tell you why I am upgrading.
First of all, I’m a tech guy. I love upgrades and new iterations - so I’m biased here. I upgrade my Sony WH-1000XM’s whenever there’s a new version, and I upgrade my Sony WF-1000XM’s when there’s a new version. They’re an upgrade, and I want to experience it.

Secondly, the things that makes the handy great for me is ease of use, stroke length and speed. All 3 of these have seen massive improvements from the handy 1 to the handy 2 pro.
Ease of use: No need for hands free cup, no need for cable (although you can still use a cable if you want), clip on sleeves, much sturdier build quality for cleaning purposes. It’s significantly quieter.
Stroke length: From 110mm to 125mm. This is a big improvement for me because I am often adjusting where the band attaches to the sleeve, to get the feel of “bottoming out”, as well as the feel of the tip entering the sleeve. The extra 1.5cm will make a big difference for me. This might vary if you’re bigger or smaller than me obviously.
Stroke speed: From 400mm/s to 450mm/s out of the box, up to 800mm/s with in-app overclocking. I will probably never use 800mm/s, but I will pay a premium for the chance to test it out. Maybe my sweet spot is around 500-600mm/s? Who knows. But I can’t wait to find out.

The products used are improved. Everything from the internals (motor is stronger and faster - they’re still testing to find out the torque difference, bearings etc) to the externals is higher quality. Wifi and BT is newer (I don’t have the specifics). They’re aiming to have an adapter for twist motion that doesn’t require scripting - as well as planning down the line to bring script support to it.

So, I love the handy 1. The handy 2 pro is a massive upgrade in my usecase. That’s why I’m getting it.

From the other options out there, only the FUNSR1 2.0 looks interesting to me. But it’s got shorter stroke length. The speeds, noise and ease of use I have no idea about. So the handy 2 pro seems like a much better purchase for me. OSR2+ and SR6 looks like aliens to me, I wouldn’t know where to start. That’s on me. If you or anyone else prefer them and don’t like the handy’s layout and functions - that’s perfectly fine. I started with the handy, I haven’t tried anything else because I love the handy and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything - especially when the twist feature will be implemented in some capacity this year, and with script support down the line.

Gotcha. I’ll point out the the media that gave me that impression.
Two shots in the main Kickstarter video, as well as three shots in the LED Interface Highlight video, show this color:

One of the early reviews calls it an “RGB matrix screen” at this timestamp:

He also shows a close-up of the screen where it appears to be that orange color:

Rather than editing or lighting, I’m suspecting this was a difference in the 1st “Golden sample” units compared to the final decision for production.

Oh, and of course:

I think updating the Technical Specifications image to say “LED Matrix, White” would be enough. Maybe a note under the LED Interface header on the campaign page to clarify that it’s only white light too.

So at that price no mount with it ?

No mount, but built-in attachment threads.
If you have their handsfree mount or any clamp and arm with 1/4" screws, it works with Handy 2 as is

Can you give information about the “new” band.
Is it an upgrade over the old pro band?
Honestly the pro band made such a big difference for the old handy. So i’m curious because the band in the picture doesn’t look like neither.

what would i have to look for when buying a mount? Like keywords for amazon etc?

I use a:

“Behringer MS2050-L Professional Tripod Microphone Stand”
“On-Stage CW-3 2.5 pound Counterweight for Microphone Stands / Booms”
“mic stand swivel mount”

About 60 bucks total. Though I’m not sure you’ll need the swivel mount with the V2 handy.

You can use the weight at the opposite end of the boom or at the bottom of the stand for added stability.

This set up is Rock Solid.

I left several replies regarding mounting options in a different topic:

The search terms in plain format:
c-clamp 1/4"
magic arm 1/4"

Further:

That c-clamp is a cheap option, if you don’t trust it you can get any c-clamp as long as it has 1/4" threads. Two attachment points if you want to have 2 arms in order to make use of both mounting points on the Handy 2 for extra stability.

Have you been applying grease to the screw regularly?
Also, you don’t need to pay 500 if you pledge to the Kickstarter. You can get the Pro for 269 USD.

Handy Pro is currently 237euros with Kickstarter

Isn’t that what the Handy 2 non-pro is? That’s a cheaper version with most of the same features, lighter and without the battery.

Still batteries in the non pro, with less capacities

I mean, it’s fair to want the better motor and materials needed for overclocking speeds while foregoing QoL stuff like battery and LED display. Basically, same performance at a cheaper price.
The non-Pro version has the QoL stuff but worse performance.

For me, the only niggle is the position of the threads for hands-free use.
My setup is fairly unique and will require me to invert any scripts, along with the device.
No mention of an accelerometer to detect orientation, so I just need to think outside the box on this one.
Otherwise, this looks to be a great set of improvements to an already awesome device. Had mine for 2 1/2 years, and the only thing that has failed is the hands-free cup.

You can set the device to invert strokes with the onboarding app, you don’t need to invert each script. Afaik, you need to be on FW4 to do this.
