i only had one and i use it like maybe 3-4time per week XD and had it for 3-4 years and never had any problem and my session are between 20min to 1 hours, sure it get a little hot thats expected but never had any issue or anything broke, only thing i did is pit some industrial grease on the screw when once a month , so i dunno how some ppl had broke multiple unit .
i just hope you can still use the Handy2 while plug in and not just wireless…
if the handy website sold this i would definitely buy the osr2+. its definitely takes time to setup something that complex. its not like its plug and play is it?
The Handy 2 will be able to be used while plugged in and charging.
Connectivity is only Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the USB connection can’t transfer scripts or commands to the device.
do we know how big of a script file v2pro can handle? there are some epic movies out there where script file is to big and needs to be split, this can be annoying.
Yes, Handy 2 can store scripts about 100 times larger than Handy 1 due to having much more RAM. This also gives room for software feature updates that require device memory that aren’t possible to deliver to Handy 1 units.
However, if you use FW4 you no longer need to split scripts even on Handy 1. FW4 loads scripts in chunks that are replaced on the fly, meaning it can handle scripts without any size limit.
Correct me if I’m wrong but OSR2+ looks like it has no wireless capabilities along with no easy ways to use it anywhere. The portability of the entire machine seems restricted mainly to a desk and solutions for a handsfree experience away from a desk such as on a bed requires much more effort than the Handy which for example, the Handy1 has an easy and lower cost 3D print belt mounting solution by Abdulishandy.
While three axis is a nice thing to have, it definitely requires more technical expertise to build and diagnose any issues which could eventually cause you to spend more down the line. Compare this to the Handy where it’s already a good device with improvements while still being familiar to use, very transportable, and is simply plug and play.
It doesn’t need an LED display or batteries to maintain its durability and/or performance.
You can forego the display and battery, but make it rely on being plugged in for power. And keep the powerful motor and high quality mechanical parts.
There is like $5 of display and $10 of batteries
And removing batteries will make $10 wire a requirement as you won’t be able to drop a 20cm cable and call it a day
@handyAlexander Do you know the status of these? Have people started to receive them yet or are they far off?
I’m excited for when we start seeing reviews and experiences shared
Cheers for the reply, that’s very exciting.
While I have you here, one final question. Is it still possible/realistic to see the hands free 2 and the spinning click on accessory to be released in 2025?
Edit: 2025, sorry. Not 2026.
Picked up something interesting in the Handy discord. Apparently the Handy 2 can go a lot slower than 32 mm/s, but this requires overclocking so only works on a Handy 2 pro.
This is disappointing news. I didn’t go for the pro because I don’t need something faster. But I would really like a slower Handy for those slow scripts to feel more real.
This was always the case, and visible on the kickstarter infographics comparing the two.
Edit: I think I misunderstood you. I don’t know if it’s clear that the handy 2 pro has overclocking abilities, and what those abilities mean, on the kickstarter campaign.
250k points!!! i think i can only use the handy 2 on my day off from work you know how retarded im gonna feel?!! HOLY SHITAKE MUSHROOMS MAN i thought 5k points was a lot. i dick gonna go on retirement when i get the handy 2…
