Ergonomic, silicone-coated, and splash resistant
With the original Handy 1, you had to hold your arm at an unnatural angle—straight and stiff. The Handy 2 changes that. It’s designed to sit slightly angled in your hand, feeling more like a natural extension of your arm. The buttons have also moved from the back to the side, right where your fingers expect them.
It’s wrapped in soft-touch silicone for a smoother feel. While we initially aimed for full waterproofing, we settled on strong splash resistance to keep the price accessible. The lead screw is sealed in its own compartment, and the silicone shell protects the rest.
Feel free to rinse it under water—but keep it out of the bath.

That is so nice that the ergonomics get attention, very happy to see that. The Handy was hard to hold and after a while, you arm started to hurt.
Water proofed design is also a welcome addition. Very hyped for the confirmed features so far.

I went hands free early in my journey with the original Handy, but the few times I tried holding it were not great. Excited to see this news!

NB! Not waterproof! Avoid getting water into the slot—but other “fluids” are not a problem if they get in. Cleaning is simple: just rinse and wipe down.

Waterproofed-ish ^^
Good you worked on the cleaning procedure. Depending on the sleeve, there always comes lube on the Handy itself and it’s hard to properly clean it.
I hope it won’t get sticky after a couple of years. I’ve experienced more than once that coatings becomes sticky like tape over time.
Apart from the aesthetic and battery improvements, are there any speed improvements?
Many of us periodically apply fresh grease to the screw to maintain smooth movement and reduce noise. That will no longer be possible/practical with a sealed screw. I hope a way has been implemented to no longer need to re-grease.
Ahhhh, marketing!
Announcements, photos here and there, ads, anything to attract customers.
For me, pre-ordering is pointless if we don’t know more.
I prefer to wait for the final release, but with all the information on the product I’m buying, rather than blindly investing without knowing what it’s for.
Give us all the information, and if the product is suitable, we’ll pre-order.

Having used the Handy for years, the 1.1 is my third. And I’m ready to invest in the fourth, but knowing what I’m buying.
After the various tests of the FW4 (with each return to FW3), this is what I expressed: it was a shame to develop a new firmware that limits the motor in order to preserve it rather than work on a more powerful motor.
I hope that Handy 2 will at least offer that, a motor capable of reaching at least 600 mm/s with more power.
For my part, before pre-ordering, I’ll continue to observe here.

sounds like a great way to trap heat as well

It’s tempting, but I’ve generally taken a more cautious approach when it comes to early adoption. Given how often first gen products face technical hiccups and quality control issues, something that’s become increasingly common in the modern era. I prefer to wait until those initial challenges are worked out.
