My handy started making a rattling noise and got stuck at the top of it’s range, and there was no way to get it unstuck. I’ve opened it up by removing the screws at the bottom (under the rubber), completely disassembled and re-assembled it to the best of my abilities but now it struggles to move and still gets stuck after a while.
Just to get the obvious out of the way, have you been lubricating it as per the instructions?
On that page they also mention wear and tear being a possible cause which you might get help with through their support, especially if your warranty’s still active.
It’s a little over 1,5 years old so no warranty, and has been used way more than what’s good for me
I have not lubricated it at all, i could try but seeing as it kinda just “clicks” and gets stuck I doubt that’d fix anything. I’m probably better off getting a new one and keeping the lubricating thing in mind for next time
It’s still worth a shot giving it some grease and distributing it well on the lead screw, may very well reduce or eliminate the clicking.
And you wouldn’t be wasting time, money or effort since you’d be getting the grease and using it on a new unit anyway. Consider it practice for your new one in case it doesn’t get the old one to a functional condition xP
Yeah any time my handy starts making some noises it doesn’t typically make, It’s time for a re-greasing. I get a high performance grease that’s generally for motorcycles:
I use this because:
engineered to handle extreme pressure, high-load conditions, and a wide range of operating speeds
My guess would be a bad T8 nut due to not lubricating it. I’d take off the slider and replace the T8 nut plus give the lead screw a really good cleaning and re-grease. The grease and T8 nut are cheap and worth a try before buying new.
