My bar just broke after about 5 uses also. Cup still good ordered a heavier duty bar on amazon hopefully it lasts
That’s sad to hear… I will definitely get a sturdier one too if it breaks again.
I use the CAMVATE 11 inch arm for my setup (Amazon for under $20). I’ve been using it for almost a year without any issues, and I have additional plates and ball heads attached to it so it’s been supporting more than just The Handy.
That honestly looks like the exact same one as the official one from Handy except for the longer attachment on one of the arms.
i am curiouis how you guys used the products for it to break, ofcourse it can be faulty ones and you guys being unlucky.
But i’ve used mine ( cup / handsfree ) for over 50 uses now and i dont see it breaking or budging anytime soon. Like do you guys thrust into the handy sleeve while its moving?
I cant speak for anyone else but for me i just use it normally with minimal movement then the last time i couldnt get one end of it to release to take it apart from the clamp it was as if the ball was wedged.
Then had to man handle it to get it loose to be able to adjust the the ball came out all together and the internal rod came out.
Probably fixable but i didnt feel like fucking with it just to possibly have the experience again.
When im ready for a session i want as little effort/headache as possible.
No I don’t thrust and was pretty careful with it. The bottom ball broke when I was slightly adjusting it in a session. As for the cup, it’s entirely possible to turn the screw too tight with this material. I made sure to not screw it too tightly this time.
So this how I use mine. Seated not standing, vertical, up-down. You’ll see it’s also supporting a macro rail and a ball head- it’s supporting even more weight. It’s sturdy as it can be. I honestly think the arm they are sending out is some white label arm which either isn’t rated for The Handy or they have some serious duds.
It’s dangerous to use it that way. Your skin can get trapped in the machine. Turn it the opposite or sideways.
I’ve been using it this way for years. Using it the other way would be far more dangerous to me.
The recommendation you get from the Handy is to face the screw away. Though this may also depend on your sitting position and own anatomy, as in in which direction your member collapse towards if it accidentally slips out from the sleeve.
I like your set up btw.
I’m getting worried my arm is going to break again because of two reasons. When I tighten it using the screw on the arm it makes a pretty loud click noise at 2 specific points. This didn’t happen for my previous one.
The arm that connects to the bottom can move/rotate to the right even though the top screw is fully tightened. The only way to fix that is by rotating the top arm more tightly counter clock wise but it feels like it’s going to break if I do that.
That metal ring thing for sure! Tripod mount rings are made to hold up lenses which could be worth thousands of dollars. They are made machined with purpose!
So… mine broke AGAIN. The ball at the bottom of the arm won’t turn/twist anymore and the arm itself is very hard to move like the screw is tightened. It doesn’t matter if the screw is actually tightened or not, the same force needs to be applied to move the arm.
Also the top arm (attached to the Handy) won’t tighten/lock fully anymore so the Handy won’t stay fixed in place.
It seems like the joint that attaches the 2 arms together is displaced. I noticed right from the start that the screw made a ticking noise at 2 specific points when tightening it which wasn’t present on my previous one. Most likely it was already displaced and became worse after use.
Btw this is how the box came in.
Edit: I ordered this one, arrives tomorrow so no waiting another week or so https://www.amazon.nl/UTEBIT-Klemstandaard-Flitsschoen-DSLR-camera-LCD-veldmonitor/dp/B07KS9VVVT?th=1&ie=UTF8&useRedirectOnSuccess=1&ref_=nav_signin&path=%2FUTEBIT-Klemstandaard-Flitsschoen-DSLR-camera-LCD-veldmonitor%2Fdp%2FB07KS9VVVT%3Fth%3D1&language=en_GB
I have only used mine a few times, and it has worked great for me so far. I also got it into a position that I wanted it in, and then I just tightened it and left it in the same position for use and storage so that I don’t have to move it around all the time. I hope mine doesn’t break, but if it does, I will post here first thing
well after being a stimmer (unfortunately there seems to be less and less estim content at the moment) for a few years.
I finally pulled the trigger on the current iteration of the Handy with arm and all that jazz.I am really curious to see how it compares. to stimming. (The “other guys” dont even have a working website for me yet.) Now you guys have filled me with a bit of trepdiation about how solid the arm is… I will report if it breaks right away… 6days
Why is it that when the arm is fully tightened I can still rotate the arm horizontally with very little effort? Shouldn’t that be impossible?
These are rated to support a certain weight and force- moving something with your hand provides more force than these particular arms are meant to support. These aren’t made specifically for the device and they probably should be using a higher quality arm. There’s a reason these arms range in price from sub $20 up +$150
And now the thing that holds the Handy (can’t even be bothered to look up what it’s called) falls off really easily. It isn’t broken at the screw like last time and I didn’t screw it on too tight either. I’m so done with this piece of crap product.
Everything that I have purchased from this company has broken except for my original Handy (the power adapter broke though). I bought a spare Handy a while ago just in case. It broke after ONE use and I’m unable to return it to the store I bought it from. All this is unacceptable and can not be attributed to just having bad luck. This company has serious issues with QA.
@Falafel Can you get me a Amazon link for that metal ring thing please? Or the name of it? Thank you!
