Timing: A Public Service Announcement! :-)

I appreciate all the effort script makers put forth, but there is one concern that I need to express:

I have noticed that a number of scripts posted are accompanied with a link to an example preview video. This is of course a good idea so people can know what they’re looking for. However, I have come across scripts that don’t match the video at all. This is happening because often times the person is posting a link to a video that is different from the one he actually made the script with.

For instance, I got a script for a Katrina Moreno VR video. I then downloaded the matching video with the same title. The script was way off, and I mean WAY off, and it wasn’t something that could be fixed simply by adjusting the response timing slider.

If scripters could add a note that shows users exactly where they got the original video from to make the script, that would help eliminate the problem. If you’ve forgotten where you got it exactly, no problem as there is another way: I would suggest a note about the video run-time so we can be sure we are making an exact match when we search for the video ourselves.

Thank you, and happy scripting!

P.S. This has appeared to have struck some kind of nerve especially when one person starts making unfounded piracy accusations, smh. I’m just mentioning an issue I’ve personally encountered ever since Real Touch, and have encountered it with a number of scripts and videos since. That’s all. If you haven’t experienced it, awesome.

This wasn’t meant to be an examination or a criticism on a specific scripter or a specific video and I will not be posting specifics because that will obviously not end well considering how this is already going.

So I’ll just say this: if the issue applies to what you’re doing and you can use it, this was for you. If not, that’s fantastic, and this wasn’t for you.

Which video are you referring to? I made a Katrina Moreno script and it was straight from BaDoinkVR. Excluding JAVVR, almost all VR scenes have no variation in time duration.

Thanks for the reply, Bumdude. I wanna keep that close to the vest as I don’t want to single anyone out. But JSYK, it wasn’t a script I got from this site but because everyone posts these in the same way, it applies universally.

It’s not a mistake scripters are making per se, it’s just that there are a variety of places where we can get videos and somehow between the studios making them and the public trading them, we wind up with versions that have been cut in different places (I’ve seen a number of versions of some videos with very different runtimes), so without the end user knowing exactly where the originally scripted version of the video was gotten from, there are bound to be some issues.

Hmmmm. Well, I wouldn’t call some of the sites “unknown sources” necessarily, just different sources. But the main point I’m making is that every user is not going to get the vids from the same source just like the scripters won’t for a variety of reasons. The mention of legitimacy is a good one because in reality a lot of users (certainly more than most would be willing to admit) are going to get them illegitimately and often just like they did when RealTouch was in its prime (and aside from Real Touch, that’s just the way porn has become ever since it hit the internet) just because a lot of users are not willing to pay. So considering that, you’re definitely going to have variations in runtime, resolution, etc. And then you have some vids that were obtained from a free source to begin with, but you can’t get access to it anymore so you have no choice but it to get it from somewhere else which leads to more possible variations, so there’s that too.

am i following correctly here? you mean you had a script that was made using the actual legit video, and it didnt sync very well at all with your pirate copy of the scene?

if that is the case and im understanding correctly your issue, i would say that falls under the category of simply being unfortunate for you rather than scripters needed to adjust anything that they are doing? but thats just my opinion, have a nice day

Nope. Nothing was pirated, but thanks for your opinion (which was really just a poorly veiled accusation).

What’s the link for the video? I can see if we can move the script to match up…

I think this is a reasonable point…A couple additions that have been covered elsewhere.

If you are a scripter and are using a “downloader” to pull videos, there is a high chance that you will have sync issues because of the way that downloaders handle streaming videos (I have a mess of scripts that can attest to this). It is a best practice to find direct downloads. Of course, this is a space for free contributions so “you do you bud” rules apply.

Including a thumbnail with the video duration is an easy shortcut for allowing people to know if there videos will match. Scriptplayer already has this feature built-in, but there are tons of other ways to do it. My process is to run my scripts through the scriptplayer with the position trackers on so I can make sure the movements lineup…while I do this I have scriptplayer generate the thumbnail… This has two benefits: First, some videos (particularly those pulled with a downloader) are handled differently between scripting software and scriptplayers. What appears in JFS may be out of whack in various Script players. This will let you catch this pretty quickly. Second, you are creating a thumbnail that notes the video length to a tenth of a second so people can more easily track down videos compatible with the script.

Finally, and this is my inner hippie talking, lets all calm down. 2020 sucks…this place makes it suck less…lets not ruin that.

My intention was to see if there was different issue on your end. I’ve dealt with having sync/playback issues as well as the other scripters in this thread. So because of the example that was given (which was somewhat specific), I wanted to make sure it wasn’t my script. If there was an issue with it, I was going to check it. If not, then it may have been something else. There are many factors that could be at fault with all the various hardware and software available.

off topic:
I managed to find that video, I think… starting point seems to match, but I haven’t had time to try it.

Try “d4nyo earn your release” in google, it a 33:12 long video (the original on ph was 33:11, but it can be a rounding error), but my antivirus is freaking out because of adware on that site, so I do not feel comfortable sharing it.

(This is a “reaction” video from the OP of the deleted video: https://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php?viewkey=ph5b65dce560831)

Are you sure it’s not due to wireless latency? It’s much more likely that this is a latency issue rather than a lot of scripts being off-sync. It could just be bad connection to your wifi, or too much network IO, etc.
