Hey all, it’s been a minute since I did any coding. This was a nice side project to avoid finishing my scripting for the week haha.
Recently, I’ve noticed an influx of Fungen 2 created funscripts so I wrote a very simple python script to see if I had downloaded any AI Generated files without knowing. Pixeldrain should give you a preview of the code:
But just in case:
from pathlib import Path
target_dir = Path(__file__).parent
print(f"Scanning in: {target_dir.absolute()}\n")
matches = 0
for file_path in target_dir.rglob("*.funscript"):
try:
with open(file_path, 'r', encoding='utf-8') as f:
content = f.read().lower()
has_fungen = "fungen" in content
has_ai_tag = "ai-generated" in content
if has_fungen or has_ai_tag:
print(f"[MATCH] {file_path.name}")
relative_folder = file_path.relative_to(target_dir).parent
if str(relative_folder) != ".":
print(f" └── Location: {relative_folder}")
if has_fungen:
print(" └── Found mention of: FunGen")
if has_ai_tag:
print(" └── Found mention of: ai-generated")
print("")
matches += 1
except Exception:
print(f"[ERROR] Could not read {file_path.name}")
print(f"Scan complete. Found {matches} matching files.")
input("\nPress Enter to exit...")
All it does is scan through .funscript files and looks for the ai_generated tag and any mention of Fungen within the scripts. This will not find scripts that were made by other AI generators, or that have had their metadata modified after the fact. This script is just to avoid having to open every funscript I own in notepad and look at the metadata tags.
I happened to have a known Fungen script on my PC that has not been modified at all and this is what the metadata of that script looks like:
Sometimes though they have additional “creator software” or “creator” tags that specifically mention Fungen, which is why the script is looking for those tags as well. In fact this python script will tell you if a script was made using Fungen’s scripter but not AI generated (which I think is kind of cool.)
How to use:
You need to have python installed but you don’t need to edit any code. Don’t ask me how to install python, go google it.
Put the .py script in the directory you want to scan. It will scan downwards through every folder underneath it looking for funscripts. It will tell you the exact folder a file that matches is in, if it is in a subfolder. If it gets a match and the funscript isn’t in a subfolder, it won’t mention a location. Don’t put it at the top of your C drive, put it in your porn folder.
Run the script.
Magic happens.
You now know if some of your files are potentially AI generated with Fungen.
Just to repeat the disclaimer: This will not find scripts that were made by other AI generators, or scripts that have had their metadata modified after the fact. But, it 100% will tell you if a script was made by someone who didn’t even bother to open it in OFS and delete the metadata haha.
Let me know if you have any questions, but know I don’t plan to bugfix since it has already done what I need it to. [There are 5 less scripts in my collection now!]
I just learned, as a fun side effect, that this script will also detect (and falsely report) DeepFunGen scripts as well. It’ll just call them FunGen scripts. That’s not a bug, that’s a feature.
AI assisted scripts have lower quality the handmade (I disagree)
Handmade scripts have high quality (I disagree)
Many scripters use MTFG/Fungen and then all points are moved just because its a bit less work and we take all time savers we can get, right? So marking my scripts with a AI assisted, which implicates lower quality, is kinda dumb. But please do so, I wont. By the metadata you will not know how much if is modified or pure AI.
The only thing that would be necessary at the moment of its state is unmodified AI and the script wont do that by looking for a tag. @k00gar could make Fungen detect percentage of modification but I am sure he has better things to do.
I think the script is useless as it shows nothing, it is not a quality check.
Two ways of checking quality as often mentioned:
Testing like events do and writing an essay, which is alot of work or
preview clip like fungen makes. which basically is like opening it in an editor.
I don’t think anything I wrote implied either of these things
Obviously it’s not a quality check, never claimed it was. It does however, allow people buying paid scripts to see if the thing they paid for was made using AI tools and then they can do what they want with that information. I’ve already found lots of scripts that were at least partially AI generated where the creator didn’t disclose that fact, and I plan to shop accordingly in the future based on that information. I definitely will not be retagging other people’s scripts for them.
I just want people on the forum to be honest about the things they sell. If they can’t/won’t do it themselves, consumers need ways to check for themselves. If you want to write a guide informing people about how they can identify AI scripts based on the points in the script / style elements go ahead.
In my mind, if the scripter was too lazy to even cover their tracks and remove the metadata that says their script is AI generated, that probably demonstrates something about the quality of their edits anyway. Also, isn’t Fungen a non-commercial product? People shouldn’t be selling that stuff on here period.
I highly doubt anyone could do that. Detecting an AI script using AI would actually be harder than generating the script in the first place.
I talked with Vlad and he said they are probably going to get rid of the AI-Assisted tag and replace it with something else/rework it. I certainly don’t care about your scripts; I don’t care about AI generated free scripts at all. I care about AI generated paid scripts, and you probably should too since it sets a horrible precedent for script quality on Eroscript.
What you ignore is: How you get to a quality script is irrelevant.
What is it for then, if the result is: it was once an AI for sure?
They dont have to disclose anything, they should disclose quality however, which they are mostly not. Not disclosing AI is not automatically dishonest if they used it as they use macros. There is just no difference in using MTFG, AI or macros. Want them to disclose the use of macros also?
Of course the unmodified can not be sold. How much it has to be modified to not be a Fungen AI is not defined yet.
So this useless script and its discussion has a benefit. I just asked @K00gar by feature request to store all AI scripts made by Fungen and based on that data check the percentage of modification. I am not sure if possible, if he wants to and if he can handle the data but then you would know how much AI is in there really. He could define a percentage that needs to be modified to be assisted. He could also go after abuse of Fungen and absolution highly modified scripts by comparing to the stored original.
That is it’s purpose. I genuinely don’t think you can get more solid information with less effort. I scanned my entire library and all I had to do was put a single file in the directory and double click it. I now know for certain that a couple scripters use AI tools. That’s the entire thing, nothing more.
They actually do.
I think any relevant piece of information that could genuinely inform a purchase should be disclosed even if you personally don’t like it. The fact that having an AI tag causes people to assume lower quality should tell you something; as well as the fact that many scripters want to hide their AI use.
I put the odds of him doing that at 0% if you round.
EDIT: Ask him to export a percentage of points tweaked into the metadata when a script is exported so I can update this script to read that out too, lmao
Point 3 is quite vague isnt it? You can win events with it like I did and it can be hard crap. Useless.
Knowing him a bit the odds just rose to 90% by your comment as this may mean challenge accepted. The problem is technical and simply the amount of data which will propably make it impossible with current Hardware prices. He may be forced to do it later.
What bothers me is scripts like this as displacement behaviour instead of a real quality check.
Do you mean point 3 of the rules? Not clear what you’re talking about.
No idea what you mean.
0.9*0=?
But seriously, ask him to export the total percentage of points that were tweaked into the metadata when a script is exported from Fungen. Then people could tag AI -assisted and point out that their script is 90% human made and it would be provable. He could even have fungen print a little piechart or something if he wanted, I don’t care.
Hard to clarify your points when they aren’t based on much, I get it. I personally think the rules aren’t vague, actually, and there isn’t a much better reality check than knowing something you suspected with 100% certainty. It’s a simple script, so whatever your complaints are about it, I think they probably don’t have anything to do with the script and more to do with your personal gripes about how people view AI.
With this type of check, someone could just tweak the points by +1/-1, and it would count as modified. Another way is to add some useless points during waiting moments, so you can increase the total number of points by x, 2x, and so on. It’s also hard to tell whether a script was actually modified or just generated by a previous version of the AI model.
