What is the Bluetooth protocol for The Handy?

I want to develop software that controls The Handy via traditional Bluetooth. What is its traditional Bluetooth protocol? Is it the same as Bluetooth Low Energy? For example: Vorze A10 Piston

Sweet Tech AS is the older name of Ohdoki if I’m not mistaken and also the company behind TheHandy.

Unfortunately the bluetooth section mention that the BLE protocol will be deprecated soon.
