What software to use for upscaling

Hi there.
I have a large collection of old retro and other clips that I would like to try and upscale
Any recommendations on software (without breaking the bank) for Mac.
As well as any tips/suggestions?

Thanks

Thanks! Greatly appreciate the info.
Was scarred that Topaz was part of solution… been on the fence for a while to fork out the heft price tag for it….
Been playing with the trial version on my Mac… but results have been here and there…

Topaz isn’t PART of the solution. Topaz IS the solution, at least as far as I have seen. I’ve messed around with a few free alternatives, but I haven’t found anything close.

Agreed. It does a lot of things well besides the color correction and re-encoding at the end. Unless your video is small and blurry, it can usually get a pretty good result. Newer versions even do the 60fps quite well, and it can take a video that is encoded in 60fps but is actually 24/30fps, and fix it in just 1 step to bring it up to a smooth 60fps, by replacing the repeated frames with new ones.
