To answer the question raised earlier: Yes, for me it is. I even use my hands more often than the equipment. I have an SR6 and an OSR2+, both assembled by myself. Using the equipment requires configuration, a certain “feel”, and even the right mood. Every time I get in the mood, finish configuring the device, and find some interesting videos to go with it, I suddenly lose all interest. I don’t know if it’s just me, but when my body doesn’t feel that spark and my head is fuzzy, I just go to sleep.
I think it’s the time spent configuring the equipment in between that kills my interest. In contrast, using my hands directly is different—when the mood strikes, I can just get started right away. Maybe this is what people call “the thrill of freshness”.
I have the same problem, setting up my devices takes time but if you manage to stay in the mood you will have the best experience, hell, i’ve even used aromatic candles to get in the mood, a good script with a nice intro might be able to get you back in the mood.
I have depression so if a script is able to get me horny again I’m saving it and donating to the creator so fast
Same here. Sometimes I just start browsing this site and end up not wanting to take the time to set up a device. Also edging just isnt the same (yet sounds like it might one day with the right software and hardware)
For me, sudden bluetooth problems (for the machine or headphones) are an instant turn-off. With e-stim, things get even more complicated. A turn-off make me go limb, getting limb makes the electrodes move or fall off, rearranging the electrodes makes the fingers sticky with conductive lube. And I really hate sticky fingers, especially when using my laptop.
I don’t randomly just want to bang one out even if I randomly get aroused and would usually rather do it when I know I have the time to get into the mood and have a session so I’m less likely to use my hands.
The need for all the setup for the fancier devices, even just the Handy, is sort of the reason my daily driver is Keon. Don’t gotta have a handsfree setup with an arm or something constantly present, or have to setup/teardown often. Just prop the device against a towel and my body and its basically handsfree.
I still use my hands or a toy in bed occasionally, it’s a different type of session just being in full control and not having to setup. And yeah like others have said edging too

Sometimes I’ll see a good looking script/video as I’m browsing and think to myself “Ah fuck I need to set it up” and it just kinda kills the vibe I have knowing I need to do it before I enjoy it. Having to store it away and clean up after the act doesn’t help either, I wish someone could handle all that for me.
I moved my Handy 1 to my bedroom after getting the Handy 2 Pro setup in my office. It’s a bit of a hassle to use there due to my setup so I still pull out my beloved black Tenga Flip Hole sometimes.
I have an SR6 “all the way” that I never got working satisfactorily - then it broke multiple ways. Ultimately the PC software requirements for any T-Code device make it a non-starter for me. I want to get jerked off, not wrestle with PC apps and Bluetooth issues.
The Quest 3, HereSphere, xbvr, and handsfree Handy 2 Pro are a wonderful combination. I just lube up the Handy sleeve, put on the VR headset, launch HereSphere and connect to my xbvr. I’m browsing the latest VR porn scenes in under two minutes.
My SR6 is my way to get off, but because of the setup and clean-up time I only use it once or twice a week, end up using my hand more often.
Just like I totally lost interest in 2d porn after getting the quest, I totally lost lost interest in doing it by hand after getting the handy. 2d porn almost never gets me hard anymore, and doing it by hand just leaves me frustrated when I have to do it.
Luckily, my handsfree handy only takes 5 min or so to set up. It is always worth it when you have a 45-90 min goon sesh to look forward to 
Using just my hand has become really rare these days. It just feels different and is not as enjoyable. Usually whenever I´m in the mood I want the time to enjoy it, so setting up the things isn´t a big factor since it takes maybe 5 minutes and the loss in mood is quickly gained back.
Handmode only really happens whenever I´m so horny it´s distracting me from something else or I have to leave soon, having little time and want to get my head free quickly, it´s more of a necessity in that case. Maybe I´m just getting older, thinking that you need to take your time and be in the right mood for this to be worthwhile, but oh well…
Your idea is exactly the same as mine. When I first started making scripts, it was just to create the ones I liked and enjoy them myself. But after finishing my first script, I found myself getting tired of that video, feeling bored with watching it over and over again. That’s because making a script requires staring at the screen and debugging frame by frame. Even with the help of AI tools, manual adjustments are still needed in the end
Me living alone and the way i have my setup makes the preparation basically non existent, just have to literally drag the device to the side and I’m ready to go.
I do have a general preference for longer sessions in general, so for me, not using the device is more about situations where i don’t have much time for the session and not because of prep or cleanup.
This is exactly what happened to me. Started scripting for myself since there were no kbj/dance multi-axis scripts and ended up getting sick of them after creating the script.
Retired my hand not long after joining ES. Hopefully indefinitely. Its either real sex or sex toy from now on.
