So the other day UnknownPleasures released Succubid a Unix Daemon that can sync videos with the Handy without any 3rd party video player. You can just use your favourite MPV player, and it just works.
I was happy to see something like this, but on my personal computer I’m dealing with Windows, so I asked the AI to port it to C# and create a Windows service from it and change a couple of things.
So now we have this:
The README.md has all the information you need, but the TLDR:
- Download one of the provided 2 versions, unzip it (or build it for yourself; it needs the .NET 10 SDK):
- small, needs .NET 10 Runtime
- large, runtime is packed and does not need anything else to run
- Run it, you have 2 options:
- Install it with the install script if you want to use it as a service (needs PowerShell)
- Just start it from the command line
SuccubidSharp.exe -g -k handy_key
- Set up the IPC channel for MPV
echo input-ipc-server=\\.\pipe\mpvsocket2> %APPDATA%\mpv\mpv.conf
- Play your video in MPV
Shortcuts you might need:

ctrl+gopens this:
And as you can see, we have a permanent indicator on the top right for device status (it doesn’t necessarily work how I intended; I’ll check it later).
@UnknownPleasures If you have any issues with this, let me know and I will change/remove/rename it, but since the license is AGPL-3.0, I thought it should be fine.
EDIT: Again, this is purely coded by AI from the source, so use it at your own risk.
