About the Review category

The review section aims to give a more visible place to put reviews for scripts, devices, games, etc.

Sponsored Reviews should be clearly indicated in the post, see Site Rules

The review section is limited to specific products:

  • Stimulation devices (including Strokers, Vibes, Sleeves, etc.)
  • Scripts (see below)
  • Software (Sites, Games, Media, Players, Integration tools)

A more robust list is maintained below

Scripts

  • Generally speaking script reviews should remain under the topic of which the script was published.
  • Longer scripts can have their own reviews under this category
  • Script Creators may be reviewed ( These reviews fall under greater scrutiny, ad hominem will result in your post being removed and punitive action if necessary)

Devices

  • Any and all toys are able to be reviewed, funscript integration is not a requirement

Software

  • Sites
  • Games
  • Players
  • Media
  • Integration tools (EDI, MFP, etc.)

Awesome!

I LOVE the Script Creator option - especially for paid scripts! It’ll help members SO much more with making informed shopping decisions.

I’m already planning the structure of my scripter review topic (I’ll contain my reviews of every scripter in one big topic).

This is a fantastic idea. I spent a lot of time creating GIFS so people can get a feel for how I’ve been scripting something that has taken me forever to create. Not throwing any shade, this idea is really good for giving clarity

dope :fire:

Ok, I’ll bite. How?

..script reviews should remain under the topic

How does a script get a review? Is it a 1-10 scale?
How would a scripter get reviewed?

Up to the user leaving feedback.

In a topic under Review > Script Reviews, a user describes their experience and opinions with a scripter’s body of work.

We don’t really need strict official guidelines in my opinion, as long as people can communicate their thoughts.
If someone feels they do need a guideline, they could look at other topics in the category for inspiration.

i really like the idea of reviewing the scripter as well as the script.
For now, we only have feedback and the like option for the post.
Can we perhaps add an optional star rating that everyone can vote on the script post?
and perhaps not only one for the overall of the script but some categories that we can evaluate the script, like the one from fleshassist, we could evaluate things like intensity realism etc, and also could add normal statistics to the script like avg speed max speed and so on (we already have this data on the script heatmap i believe)
This would also be an interesting filter to use as well as I would be able to get more feedback/
This all is just a suggestion and i know it takes time and effort, thanks for the new feature we just got!

The decription of all of this is still confusing me. I see now there is a specific “Script Reviews” category, except Vlad says:

..script reviews should remain under the topic of which the script was published

..which seems in opposition to review being in separate category.

What I’m really asking is how would someone go about reviewing a particular script? I think what Rose is saying is that there are no guidelines for how a review should be written. Fine I guess but does that effectively turn the new Script Reviews category into a recommendations list? I doubt many/any people are going to devote any time leaving negative reviews for particular scripts and, that kind of thing belongs in the comments of the original script post imo.

I guess I don’t get what the purpose of this whole thread is. What I was originally thinking was that there was a new system to rate all posted scripts on some kind of searchable scale, but it doesn’t appear that’s what this is. I know we can already sort by likes, but I’d like to see reviews of more specific things. Likes could mean that they like the source video and that ANY script exists for it. Would be nice to see reviews based on specifics like sync-to-action, but I may be wishing for too much if those reviews never get filled out or, incorrectly.

The script reviews subcategory is in my opinion useful for sharing reviews of scripters or script services, which I think will be a great resource.

I agree that searchable script quality ratings would be great, but that’s a separate functionality that seems hard to implement on Discourse.

Ok. Let’s say, hypothetically, that I leave a negative-leaning review about a scripter who makes mostly paid scripts, focussing on my perceived lack of sync in their work. I’ll imagine the first few responses are “I love their scripts!” and “Worth every penny”.

I don’t really want to be a buttface about a particular scripter’s work, but I’d also like to save a new user their time and money if they’ll feel the same way as me. Is there anything for me to do here or, should I just let the natural flow happen?

Personally, I was planning on simply being honest about my experience and opinions. But you bringing up potential disagreements in the replies makes me consider including more objective elements, especially for negative points, such as showing screenshots revealing sync mismatches in OFS between action on screen and script points.

As long as the reader can get an accurate idea of a scripter’s quirks and qualities, they review will be helpful to them.

indeed i agree how will this even be possible, we all use different setups for our pleasures that behave & feel completely different from one & other not to mention that we all have different sensitivities. my only thing i think that’ll work is segmenting scripts into softcore, hardcore & normal then have three criteria’s to review like feel, sync & overall enjoyment which are totalled together for a final score & pray to god the laws of averages are on our side XD
