DeoVR dropping DLNA - alternatives?

This hasn’t been necessary with xbvr for a while. It dynamically serves the funscript so you don’t need to have anything on the headset itself

I’d head over to the xbvr discord server if I were you, I’m sure someone there could troubleshoot your problem and get it running smoothly for you

Anyone know if sideloading an older copy of DeoVR is an option or will it autoupdate?

I think our only choice is to wait for Heresphere to release their Q2 port app, which is apparently coming this weekend for beta testing.

DeoVR say they’ll support DLNA as long as it’s “functional” but then immediately broke it in their most recent update, so I think they’re done. Time to find a new player.

They didn’t break it, they removed the functionality. :frowning:

Thanks for the note on Heresphere - will keep my eye on them. Just bought Pigasus, and while a nice UI, sadly they don’t do web, so still looking for that all-on-one solution.

I was finally able to fix the issue by completely uninstalling DeoVR and reinstalling it. Now DLNA works as it did. But it’s a stark reminder to migrate to a better player ASAP. I’ll be looking out for Heresphere.

In my UI it went missing too, so I tried a few things to get it going without the DeoVR DLNA feature.

I installed SideLoad on my Quest2 and hoped I could find an older Version of DeoVR, but nope. I tried to get the scripts running with XBVR but finally I ended up also reinstalling DeoVR from the Oculus Store.

Then I saw that you can just turn DLNA back on in the options.

Now I’m confused, because it went missing in the UI, and it looks like it did not only for me, so I assumed I got the Update. Did you guys check the Options in the DeoVR App?

Well, i got my Quest2 last week and DeoVR or SLR were never a good option for the scripted videos, because i need a VPN to use SLR through the Quest2.

Anyway, i’ve been using the original HandyFeeling website for the local VR videos from the Quest2 web browser and it works just perfect for me.

My DeoVR updated itself automatically even though I avoided the update. You can turn DLNA back on in the Settings → Player → Enable DLNA.

Is there an open source VR player that supports funscripts?

I had to reinstall the entire app before DLNA would work, even after enabling it. Seems to be working fine now but it’s obvious this critical feature (for me) is an afterthought for the devs as they try to turn DeoVR into a lead magnet for SLR. I’m hoping the port version of Heresphere is as good as I want it to be.

DLNA no longer has a toggle button in settings. Version 12.0 was just released five hours ago.
Release notes:

  • UI/UX improvements
  • DLNA deprecated

Luckily I noticed this and had time to download the 11.9 APK on SideQuest. If you’re quick you probably can too!

That SideQuest-Hint has been one of the most valuable hints I’ve read! Works like charme!

thanks a lot!

Doesn’t seem to be a way to download the apk from Sidequest, how did you do it? Any chance you can post the APK here? Thanks.

i made an account just to share this. i installed DeoVR v11.9 about 30 min ago via sidequest, but i couldn’t get adb pull working to backup the apk from my quest 2, and in my frustration i took forever to realize that sidequest conveniently also has a button to just backup apks. this is that backup, except i renamed it, as to not be a string of random numbers/letters. cheers fellas Zippyshare.com -

Awesome, thanks. I appreciate it. Looks like I’ll use this until Heresphere gets scripts working then I’m out. Thanks again for doing this.

damn good first post. I encourage everyone to try out Heresphere - I left DeoVR for it. Took a bit to get through the menus and mapping controls, but it was totally worth it. Picture quality is better and the dev actually seems to have a brain. There will also be a revamp later this year that will make it much more usable from a UI perspective.

Great post, but getting error 403 forbidden?

Sounds good! Can u play and use Funscripts with it?

You need to use a VPN if you want to access Zippyshare. German IPs are blocked

you can set up a timestamp server heresphere and sync funscripts when paired with an app like scriptplayer or multifunplayer right now. later on, we might see standalone support without those 2 apps but i’m not sure.
