Don't know if this is help...but maybe it helps someone down the line

…been wracking my brain for a useful suggestion for you. Personally my advice would have been to do full wipe and clean OS install to get rid of all the horrible bloatware, and shitty driver conflicts. But as you’ve stated, that’s not your expertise. It’s not terribly complicated, and you have a laptop, so maybe you could get a mate to do it? i occasionally do a rebuild for my less tech savy relatives, it’s kinda like house keeping, takes a couple of hours, most of which is just waiting for it to crunch something so loads of time to play a game or whatnot.

The other suggestion is to buy a second hand laptop? There are loads on the market, and best of all you can buy one that’s a had a clean install quite easily, it’s pretty much a de-facto move to wipe it clean and reinstall before resale, so they tend to be easier to use than the horrid bloatware things the corporations pump out. Personally i hate laptops, PC main myself, so i’ve always bought them refurbished if i needed one, and they work just fine.

Sorry i can’t be more help, the idea that you’re struggling is heartbreaking, keeping my fingers crossed for you…

When it comes to PC, don’t buy computers from the companies that are primarily active on the business side e.g., Dell, HP, Lenovo to name some of the largest. They are horrible to deal with on the consumer side.

The best option is to buy PC brands that are consumer brands e.g. ASUS, Acer, MSI and so on. Select a brand that have models with clean Windows installations without bloatware. A clean Windows installation usually works better as long as there are drivers for the hardware. And finally, don’t buy the cheapest stuff. There is almost always a reason for why it’s cheap. Unknown hardware/chipset providers is usually one of the reasons and that usually means crappy drivers.

Companies like HP and Dell, on the other side, are so large so they can customize their hardware and buy in large quantities to get low prices, but that often means that they don’t want to spend money on adapting drivers. They might also reuse their Windows installations between models and they tend to tweak the installation beyond what Microsoft recommends from what I’ve seen.

Yeah, I’ll definitely second all of that. The one exception that I’ll make on the Dell side is that the Alienware support is pretty top notch, according to a buddy of mine.

Ok, maybe Dell hasn’t f*cked up Alienware after they bought the company.

Its kinda sad how hp hate is constant and still hasnt changed over the years. My first laptop was hp and it was good for its price. I upgraded to a newer laptop at the time and it was nothing but problems lol. Nonstop driver issues its insane. Thats like 13yrs ago lol

Yep. Their consumer line turned to hot garbage pretty quickly, but I’ll take an HPE server any day of the week over just about any other line. As long as we’re talking x86, that is.

Man…you guys are talking WAAAAYYY over my head. Man, I don’t know cpus but in very basics. If it is more art-based or used for art stuff, then I am a bit more familiar but even then, I am limited. I am not a graphic designer nor use my macs for art making. I am a traditional drawer/painter/sculptor…Really the only time I use my macbook is to show students examples and that is about it.

They make ok printers lol I gotta give em that. I do agree with the laptop debacle tho. Gamer brand laptops are the way to go due to how much more accessible and powerful they are. You get more bang for your buck, but nothing really beats a PC made with your sweat, tears and nervous panic when you are installing your VC and cpu

Eh, I’d say “ship it to me and I’ll run a clean install on it for you to kill the bloat and fix driver issues”… but I wouldn’t ship a laptop to some total stranger on the internardz that I met on a porn hobbyist site

Shit…@Midevil if I tried and built a PC, then this would be the resulting game.

And it would look like this…

Well, I DON’T KNOW WHY???  While I am at it, I can include my birth certificate and bank accounts just in case they might come in handy.

its intimidating as hell but it can be done with videos, research and also bribing your CIS friend to come over with the promise of food lol. You do get a whole new understanding of PCs when you build them. If you ever get the opportunity to try and build one I say go for it! :sunglasses:

Nice. Well, you gotta have friends to bribe with food.

have u tried running windows in a vm on mac might be better

if a monkey like me can build a pc then u deff can

I can’t use my any of my macs for THIS stuff here. My older macs are just too old and my new macbook is for work. I can’t have a bunch of porn on it. I don’t want anything like 1,000,000 scripts and videos on it or an external to take up space or just be on it.
I am sure if I REALLY wanted to build a pc, then I could. Just not extremely compelled. Don’t want to spend any more money on something I wouldn’t use for other than making and playing scripts.
