Well doublevr recommended asking for a discount and I did that and they just offered some script bundle for $12.99 as well as the cheapest option being buying one script and it’ll unlock the ability to play scripts.

As far as other ways to play the content on the quest, there is a downgrade ability to downgrade the update that stopped access.

And re: other programs, I do believe there is another program recently released that you can view the content and sync with the Handy on the quest. I saw it linked on this site last week, unfortunately I got so busy and lost it and can’t find it :(.

Someone in this feed also recommended scriptplayer with whirligig and I have to try that as well. But not sure how to do that without a vr capable pc. I just have a cheap Acer laptop which doesn’t have the ability to run vr content unfortunately.

Can confirm, whirligig can be used with a little set-up and script player:

Edit: I see that they pushed the same update to DeoVR on Steam. Time to put in a review.

Awe that sucks sorry to hear they pushed it. Are you able to roll it back?

Do we have to have a vr capable pc for that? My poor lil lappy I feel isn’t up to the task for that lol

I only have experience with the Vive and Index. However, it looks like it may be usable through something called SideQuest. Details on Whirligig and SideQuest on the developer’s website:

Unfortunately, you can’t pick your version on Steam. It’s OK though, I have Whirligig.

I know it sucks… but you got to try to scrap together those penny’s. You had enough cash for a handy but not enough to subscription? Not even a month or two? Look at it this way. We are investing in a company that is pushing the advancement of the handy and with a subscription you are still able to use ‘free’ user created scripts. I bought a year subscription because with the handy I am essentially simulating sex with 10/10 pornstars for 300 bucks a year. If you go out and sleep with an established pornstar you are looking at paying 500 and probably way more for an hour or two. I am going to buy a subscription to Czech Vr too ---- We have to support these people so we get more AMAZING content.

Don’t presume someone’s financial situation bro. If you have all those extra pennies to scrape together then go ahead and pay for my subscription or someone else’s that doesn’t have the disposable income that you have. I’m sure any of us if we had the money wouldn’t mind supporting the great sites that provide content but if you don’t have it then you don’t have it. Some of us support entire families already and don’t have the extra to spare.

So again, if you aren’t going to donate to someone’s financial situation and you are not able to help in this particular situation of running scripts then kindly go talk on another post.

Yes I bought my Handy two years ago, my quest at the same time as well but a lot has changed in the world since then. And I’m sure many people on here have been affected negatively in the pockets as well. Have some compassion or have a seat.

Oh sorry, that sucks. Possibly if you had it installed before though with the previous playability of scripts enabled then instead of picking a “new version” you can do a type of rollback to the previous version? I would assume since it’s on a pc there would be more flexibility to gain access but I could be wrong. I do know it is possible to do it directly on the Quest tho.

My suggestion, google and YouTube “how to rollback an update on Steam” or maybe “how to downgrade a program on pc/steam”.

I googled that for the quest and found a vid.

Let me know if that helps.

The point is, I bought Deovr years ago and now functionality has been removed only to be put behind an additional paywall. I loathe micro-transactions, much less on a product I paid full price for. It would be one thing to simply promote the subscription service, but this is an obvious cash grab. No thanks! I’m happy with Whirlygig for VR.

DeoVR was never put on sale. It was always a free player

I think you guys would have made a killing if you charged for it. It was unrivalled as the best way to view scripted
vr videos for years

I added it to my Steam when I picked up a bunch of other players (Simple VR Video Player, Whirlygig, etc) to test video playback back in 2018. My mistake on the cost. However, my point still stands about features being removed and put behind a paywall. It’s a good way to piss people off.

I don’t understand. You can get access to script syncing on DeoVR for less than the price of Whirlgig, But still DeoVR is the bad guy, even though the app itself is free.

No you did not. DeoVR has always been free.
