Handy FW4 Support for ScriptPlayer

A pre-relase for ScriptPlayer v1.2.2 is available here:

It now uses Handy API v3

  • DOES NOT support Handy FW 3
  • Supports Handy FW 4

Error handling and re-connects are still a bit wonky, but during regular use it works fine.

Known Issues:

  • Re-connecting assigns you a new session, requiring you to reload the current script (Nothing I can do about that, but will be done automatically with the next version - fortunately loading scripts is super fast now)

Great update for my FW4 Handy, I did not encounter any problems with it for the short time I used it. (1.5hr) Installing the update was seamless, it kept the 1.21 settings.

I have a change request tough:
The top and bottom menu bars are bright white and is way to bright compared to some darker video’s, is it possible to make a dark version of the player or a choice in settings to do that?

Thanks for doing this for the community!

I just realised it’s on GitHub so also commented there with this request.

Thank you very much.
Overall I’m happy that I can directly connect with FW4. The sync offset seems to work fine as I setup my delay one time and it seems to keep in sync.

The one thing that does not work for me is the “Pause video while downloading script” option for the Handy. I’m not sure if this is because I’m using VLC as external player (I want ‘real’ fullscreen and have the scriptplayer open on my 2nd monitor).
And sometimes it does not start automatically after the script is loaded. It’s usually fine after I use the timeline to go to the start of the video after the script was downloaded.

Overall using the handy api directly seems a lot more responsive as the “vibrating” parts of scripts get executed. When using the Handy with intiface those rapid movements do not get through.
