Heresphere related issue

  1. Use SteamVR version Heresphere to play local videos.
  2. Use Quest native Heresphere and SMB to play local videos.

I’m confused about the differences between streaming and SMB. Do they give same visual quality when I watch VR videos?

Depending on your PC you can do a bit more of fine tuning with a scene with the SteamVR version, but otherwise there is no difference. Just use the native Heresphere version with your files shared through SMB. Unlike the SteamVR version you don’t even need to use a PC if you have a home fileserver. Also SteamVR version also takes longer to start etc. so more of hassle unlike the native version.

Very helpful, thanks for the reply.

Last I looked the Oculus version supports passthrough whereas the Steam version does not yet.

SMB requires browsing the file system. If you setup xbvr you can create your own streaming service with cover images, previews, and auto-loading of associated funscripts.

It seems xbvr is useful to me, I should spend some time learning about it. Thank you for your tips.

Just piggybacking on your thread to ask a HereSphere question: does the native Quest app in the Meta Store support funscripts? I bought the itch.io version but am always a few releases behind to avoid the hassle of downloading the updated executable to my Quest 3. If the Meta version supports funscripts as well I am willing to double-dip because it will be easier to keep updated and because Meta are idiots and they don’t allow pin-locking sideloaded apps. I have no idea why that feature isn’t available on every app on the device.

The Meta version is identical in features and functionality to the Itch.io version. Only the delivery method varies. So yes, funscripts are supported!
