Is it possible for Quest's local version of Heresphere to playback video from PC via cable?

Hi!

I’ve messed around with this for a decent bit, but I’m not expert so may be an obvious solution. Would love for that to be the case.

Hareware/software in question:
Quest 2 / OSR2 / Multifunplayer / PC / USB4 cable

(Currently highly prefer to use cable link rather than wifi)

In short, I can’t reliably stream 6K+ from my PC through my headset, (It seems like the transfer rate of the Quest 2 isn’t fast enough) and my quest obviously doesn’t have the space to store much video. So, right now, I will load 6K+ onto the quest and stream 4K or less from PC.

The problem with this is that (as far as I can tell) I have to run the Quest’s version of Heresphere to playback the 6K+ video using Quest’s processing, and then to play anything not loaded onto Quest, I activate link and resetup Hereshpere on PC and resetup the OSR2 with Multifunplayer. I’d really rather not have to do this.

The only method that might solve this problem that I’ve seen is to run a DLNA so the quest can find videos from my PC through wifi connection, but with my current setup my wifi isn’t strong enough to support that

Is there a way to accomplish this through the use of USBC cable connection so that I can playback video from Quest or PC in the same Heresphere version?

Thanks for any help. I couldn’t find a discussion like this or a solution online, so hopefully this isn’t just clutter. Appreciate you all!

I use xbvr running on my NAS to stream funscripts and video to my Quest 3’s copy of HereSphere. HereSphere sends the funscript to my Handy. No PC required.

You can get close, but the OSR2 will require the PC and Multifunplayer.

To add on to Islanti’s response - if your wifi is insufficient it may be good enough to simply hardwire your PC.

Most wifi can push bitrates that 6K+ VR needs, but often trying to do it twice (PC to Router, then Router to Quest) introduces all kinds of latency issues / bandwidth constriction. If you can hardwire your PC to your wifi router your issues may simply disappear.

Alternatively you can purchase a wifi router that will be more than sufficient for this and place it in your room, creating a dedicated hotspot for your Quest. If you hardwire that new router to your existing connection youll have internet as well as a dedicated high-performance wifi hotspot for your devices (including quest!)
