I’ve just got a OSR2 and new to scripts and VR porn. I’m considering signing up for SLR with Scripts and in two minds if I should go with lifetime, annual or another alternative? I know there’s scripts and videos on here, and some have been good but it’s not as convenient as browsing for a video and streaming with one click
For the lifetime sub to be worth it, you have to use the annual sub for at least 3 years. However in that time a lot can happen - for example competitors.
What’s people’s thoughts on SLR and the content available for the OSR2 and do you have a preferred alternative
In my opinion its probably not worth a life time sub given that you cant predict your financial situation in 3 years time. You also might not still be using it in that time or regularly use it enough to make the sub worth it. With the amount of content available you’d have to constantly be using it. Realistically speaking a person would only be interested in so much content, ie whats the purpose of buying a whole ware house if you only use the front 10% of it.
I’ll always advocate for getting the scripts and videos for your own safekeeping cause you cant guarantee that those scripts/vids will always be available esp since SLR has removed content before.
If you just want to stream and look around, it might be worth getting a month sub or w/e and just checking out what they have if you don’t know what you want.
There’s honestly enough content on this site for VR that might also not be on their site that you shouldn’t have to spend on a life time sub.
Also specifically for the OSR2, since you’re multiaxis I don’t think there’s enough handmade OSR2 content on SLR(if any) since from what I know Handy and other single axis strokers were the main use case(esp since their own device is gonna be single axis). You can turn the single-axis scripts into multi-axis but that is more interpretation/simulation using the single axis rather than true hand-crafted multiaxis.
From what I’ve read here a big issue is that you don’t know what you have in a year from now. The terms changes (limitations in video and number of script downloads for instance) and studios leave SLR while new joins. I remember many being very disappointed when VRBangers decided to leave SLR (and all videos were removed). SLR is not in control of the content.
There is also a little bit of a trend towards the requirement of proprietary video players (SLR, Playa, etc.) and a shift toward streaming only and limited download options. All that might accelerate and with a lifetime sub you can’t use the little consumer power you have by cancelling your sub.
Lifetime SLR members have realized that what you pay for now is not necessarily what you end up with later. Honestly, the little bit of saving is not worth giving up your right to vote with your wallet. I would have cancelled my membership 2 months ago if I hadn’t suckered myself into lifetime.
Here are some of the changes that have happened just since I’ve been a lifetime member:
BAD:
reduced the the allocation of video downloads
reduced the the allocation of video downloads again
reduced the the allocation of video downloads yet again
removed the ability to download the original video–instead only allowing reduced bitrate compressed trash
lost 50% of their major studio partners (VRBangers, RealityLovers, etc).
many remaining major studio partners have reduced their number of uploads
many remaining major studio partners have increased the gap between thri site release and when they publish on SLR from days to weeks, or weeks to months, and in some cases, years
reduced the number of free monthly funscript downloads
restricted the number of funscripts you can stream in a given period
pulled a rugpull for the long promised SLR Drive (ability to uoload your own videos and have AI scripts created, etc)
randomly removed useful features on seemingly a whim of management
promised that every scene on SLR would receive an AI script but now barely 60% have scripts and the number of new scenes that never get scripts is steadily increasing.
added a fuckton of non-VR videos to a VR site and had to be forced to implement a functional way to filter those out from the main feed
SLR is letting studios re-release nearly identical scenes in an effort to game the New Release view bump
continually adding new studios that produce subpar content with low grade equipment
questionable decisions by management have pushed away many directors, content producers, studios, etc
gawd, I can’t even continue. Someone else will chime in with more
There has been some GOOD though:
Their AI script generator gets the job done. I have yet to see an better script AI from any of the other source published here. NOTE: you do have to pay extra for it.
Their push into passthrough was nice and the AI passthrough engine is pretty good. And that was free.
you can’t be serious with all the bullshit.
most of your list is some corner case users.
yeah, we have to stop all the innovation because of you are not happy with changes. you people are miserable
