So over at sexlikereal.com they are adding a super cool new feature that I think a ton of people will be excited for. They are adding the ability to have an AI script generated for any video you own! I know AI scripts have a bad rap with some people and obviously will never be better than a hand made script but the ones at SLR have gotten very good. This would be amazing to get scripts for videos that you never thought would have one or maybe to give people a baseline to script off of (idk a lot about actually making them.) Here’s the problem, they are bundling it with a cloud service. In short the only way to have/use the scripts is to upload your video to the SLR Drive service and stream it from there. You get 500gb of storage for I think $15 a month and I’m pretty sure you have to pay per script generation on top of that (they have some token system.) I think almost everyone here would agree that this isn’t ideal. I have no problem paying for these AI scripts but they really need to let people download them after they are generated and use them locally. It really sucks that such a cool technology will be seldom used because of how inconvenient they have made it logistically for most people. For anyone else interested I would suggest leaving feedback asking to make the scripts downloadable at one of the following links:
They could just charge a reasonable price to run your videos through their AI, and perhaps incentivize keeping an active subscription if you get x amount of free custom scripts per month… But not being able to DOWNLOAD the scripts is a total deal-breaker, even then.
Considering how there are only so many VR videos out there they might one day offer unlimited VR uploads as it’d mostly be redundant data on their servers from VR, although there is so much 2D content I doubt they could afford to even keep 1 instance of every porno ever made.
Yeah whoever their community manager is got pretty combative with people in the forums I posted so I don’t have a lot of hope that they will offer downloads. It’s a bummer because it’s such cool tech. Hey ya never know though if enough people request it then maybe.
That’s indeed expensive. The price for a year with 2TB on Dropbox or Google Drive is comparable to four months with 2TB on SLR.
I also wonder how SLR “got around” copyright with their AI scripting. They have been advocating loudly that all scripters here are violating copyright (derivate work in their opinion) because ES scripters don’t have explicit agreements with the studios. If SLR start creating scripts for uploaded videos from various studios not available on SLR, and also use it as a selling point to make money on it through a paid service, how does SLR rationalize that given their earlier standpoint? (mostly a rethorical question)
Naah not paying for AI scripts I tried the SLR ones a few months back there nearly passable but I wouldn’t pay for them. If like you say you could download them and use them as a base then it is a bit more tempting but still too expensive to even consider.
Yeah I was wondering about the copyright thing myself. It defiantly seems like they could be in sketchy territory but presumably they have a lawyer to discuss such things lol. Ultimately yeah, the price is too high to not allow downloads of scripts.
Understandable, I don’t know how long ago you tried their AI scripts. If it was a while ago it might be worth another shot. I think they have improved significantly since when they were first released but maybe that’s just me. It will never be the same as a custom made script but it would be a nice option for videos that will never see a custom script if only it were more convenient.,
I have no problem with a business making money and having proprietary software or code to do so. But I also think that once we get to a place of success, we should then give back our community.
This DOES NOT mean i expect them to release their proprietary code that generates them revenue. Something like their AI passthrough tool for example. Thats theirs, they made it, they can make money from it, thats fine. But AI scripting I dont feel is innovative, or in demand enough to justify keeping it closed source. Scripts just arent worth that much money and never will be.
In this very specific instance I feel it would be a better idea to release the tech and collaborate with the community gaining potentially more functionality and also the praise of the people that gave them money and brought them to that success.
My opinion can easily be explained by saying “im just someone who is just trying to get shit for free”. Which is fair and logical, but I feel what disproves that is my point about scriptings future, its potential to generate income, and its demand. Its low enough to warrant collaboration over a closed source proprietary solution.
It’s just a json file at the end of the day, it has to be streamed and decoded/decrypted to your local setup in order to be processed by your compatible devices, so with a bit of effort you can 100% capture that data regardless.
Regarding AI scripting, i would beg to differ when someone says these are not in high demand or that they will never surpass what a human can achieve. From my perspective this issue will solve itself with the advent of open source video AI tooling, give it a few years. There are already open source AI motion tracking models like cotracker and pose estimation models, which can already do a lot of the heavy lifting for you, problem is for now they’re still processing-intensive and they need an application framework built around them to micromanage them in a way that is user-friendly and actually helpful as a funscript copilot. But it is 100% possible and i’d even go as far as to say it will 100% become better than human scripters, even as far as to imitate specific ways of scripting. Like it or not that’s the unfortunate reality of exponential growth. Only limiting factors are time and compute resources.
It’s tokens, right? Tokens are like 2kb files; there is no script inside of them.
The script is either kept on the server until the handy requests it or the handy downloads and stores the tokens as scripts when you initiate a token pairing, or it only ever gets commands from the server, or something like that.
Ways to rip tokens:
Use Wireshark to decrypt the Handy’s traffic and grab the Scripts/Commands
Create a Handy emulator to grab scripts from tokens
Just use a physical camera to record a handy playing a token script and reverse engineer the script from it, lol.
If anybody really wants this done, they could reach out to the Jav-It dev and see if he was interested in doing it.
It’s just a reaction that the combined price plans are too steep.
$30 monthly fee for premium unless you sign up at a temporary discount.
$15 monthly fee for scripts.
$15 monthly fee for 500GB storage, which is like 15 VR videos in 8K.
$10 for PT per video and I assume you can’t download those offline to keep despite the steep price.
$x for each AI generated script with no option to download and keep it. I have no idea what happens with that if you delete the corresponding video from storage to free up space.
That’s like $60 per month + additional costs related to generating PT and AI scripts. Even more if you sign up for 2TB when that is available. You easily end up closer to $100 per month. If you pay that much you want to be able to use it offline even if SLR prefer that customers are constant subscribers.
A big question is, will those generated AI scripts work with a video stored locally on your own hard drive when you don’t have neither an active premium sub nor an active storage plan? I guess the same question goes for generated PT.
that’s some really weird logic.
you have everything within a single streaming price. the same like buying cars and all the upgrades come additionally. the same like buying phone and buying apps. multiple services have multiple plans based on usage.
you people are really bad. hating those who create things, trying to take advantage of every sincere initiative justifying it with your stupid bullshit. just get a life and let others do their things in life instead of doing security efforts. you think I want to do this shit?
I would really love to know what you do for a living. Would like to see those paying you to give you the same shit
The only reason we haven’t released scripts yet is to get security measures in place and it’s all going to be encrypted Handy streaming only for exactly that reason. Otherwise I’d love to see people enjoying these already. But you guys make it bad
Why so agressive? I tried to be constructive and making an example of the total cost which tend to be forgotten. A great service may not be so great when you take the total cost into account. There is also a reason for why streaming service account sharing increased and subscription cancellations increased when Netflix, Disney+ etc. started to do large increases in their pricing model. There is a balance between value of a service and the price for a service.
I’m not trying to diminish the fact that SLR provide a valuable service and in some aspects also being innovative. My point was that when you add it all together it’s a very costly service you provide. Probably to costly for many. There are two ways of earning money, being a premium service with high prices and fewer customers (e.g. premium and luxury cars) or aim for the masses with lower prices where you get less money from each customer, but that being balanced having more customers (e.g. medium priced cars). IMHO, SLR seems to aim for the first right now.
Finally, you really should hire a community manager that handles your online presence. No other company here (Handy, CzechVR etc.) is so aggressive in their responses towards potential customers compared to yours, even when they are being critizised for their products and services. Your tone is simply bad for business!
We arent the ones making it bad. Tons of people on the slr forum gave their feedback, which you asked for, and rather than taking criticism and recommendations to consideration you attacked and insulted them as you are doing here. All people want is it to be more logical affordable and less limited like allowing downloads. If you would take in all the helpful feedback given , than im sure you wouldnt recieve so much of the backlash and workarounds people are now talking about. You can stop pretending as if its because you care about the creators or what is right, all the limitations and pricing plans you are giving are all about maximizing profit. Ignoring your loyal customers opinions and feedback will have the opposite effect however.
Wait, seriously? That’s fucking hilarious since I guarantee they trained their model using scripts taken directly from here without giving a dime to the creators. Wonder if there will ever be an actually enforceable law that requires people to publish datasets prior to implementing AI models so people can see if their IP is being used without their consent.
(I know it’s free btw. Solely bringing up this point because it’s laughable when ANY company talking about copyright infringement also implements an AI model almost certainly trained on other people’s open source work)
