The single RGB light on the original didn’t cut it—it just couldn’t show enough information. With The Handy 2, we’ve integrated a hidden LED matrix. It stays invisible when off, looks sharp when lit, and delivers clear, useful feedback—especially when something goes wrong.
We considered an LCD or OLED screen, but for a device exposed to vibration, fluids, and compact internal design, it wasn’t a viable option. The LED matrix sits safely under a layer of silicone, making it more durable and reliable and easy to clean—no gaps, no mess, no fuss.
This seems nice, like if you’re connected up to Xtoys you could maybe see the current range that a script is using directly on the Handy (Virtual Succubus); rather than needing to open up the Xtoys tab and check from there.
What looks like a dedicated connection change and power button are great too, rather than powering as soon as you’d plug it in before. Easier cleaning and more information are always helpful.
Glad to see they are back (even though they were never gone). I was a bit worried we won’t see a successor to the Handy. They are really delivering with the Handy 2 and I am confident that we will get an amazing device.
Hey Mr Alexander sir, aka “The creator”, remember those negative nelly’s I mentioned? Here they are, right on schedule. Before anybody actually has one of these badboys in their hands AND ON THEIR…then maybe just wait and see how good it is rather than throwing shade on it. And show “The creator” a little respect.
Thank you. But he has a point, which is why we scrapped the idea of using LCD/OLED. They are too fragile for this use case. The LEDs on the matrix are on a dampened PCB and safely protected under the silicon.
Where’s the disrespect? I’m stating a fact. Add all the gimmicks you like, bottom line, they’re introducing yet another point of failure that drives up cost. If my words offend, that’s your problem. Don’t confuse disagreement with disrespect.
Maybe we see disrespect differently friend. And it wasn’t necessarily aimed at you btw. To me, to start focusing and picking up on any possible theoretical negatives of a yet unreleased product, when the og handy is the one that even made such a thing, a thing, is a bit disrespectful to “The Creator”. What you and everybody should be doing is something like this…
You are not offending me. But if I made/invented something and people complained every step of the way about things before they have even seen what it’s actually like, then it would offend and annoy the shit out of me. In theory every new feature you introduce to a product is another potential point of failure, but that’s how we get a new feature. An led screen isn’t something that costs the world in this day and age, it’s peanuts.
…LED, under silicone, u really can’t get more foolproof… even if u somehow lose a pixel over the years, and it’ll keep on trucking…also, u do realise it’ll be a race to see who can hack the API first it so u can watch all those old 8bit porn gifs from the nineties on it… based…
…i wish i could, i remember there were just a tiny square, with a miniscule number of pixels, barely any frames per second, but because they had been encoded from a video source they worked, like a piece of animation.
So are you not a fan of the handy? are you just here to criticize with your great critical thinking skills? Is this withholding applause? - “Merely introducing another point of failure”.
“The Creator” (lol) just announced another “Handy” feature of the new device and you chirp up with (like others on here) scrutiny and your expert sense of discernment for something you haven’t even used. So why don’t you wait for that reality, then judge?
It’s the equivalent of the creator of the worlds first bike then announcing the release of the second version of said bike, then you would be sounding like this “Those gears are merely introducing another point of failure!” My point being stop complaining about shit that you haven’t even used, and be grateful a new one is coming out - Led screen or not.
Why exactly are you here? Wait, I know, you have a new device you’ve built and are announcing and it has no built in led screen because that would be “Merely introducing another point of failure”
Try and be more like this little guy…
If you decide you don’t want to be like him, then you and your friends called Nelly should maybe get on your bikes.
