VR with The Handy is amazing and all, don’t get me wrong, but by the time I get everything setup then I’m already flaccid. Flat is quicker and more convenient (and the selection of videos is much wider as well)

well to be fair i initially bought it for gaming, to learn i only use it now for porn lol
and i would pay that amount again or more soon for the quest3 which is coming out.
Once you have it hard going back to flat…

bought it 100% for gaming… then i signed my soul to the vr porn devil… and barely game on it… for my part, i maximize the immersion as far as i can push it… and the vr setup is a must and is always ready to go

I have a Quest 2 and there are some things I really like about VR that regular videos cannot provide.
However, I still prefer flat videos overall and as was already mentioned: if you are into hentai/cgi there is basically no competition here (at least so far). I will have a look into Darkdreams though as that sounds promising.

I’m still rocking the Rift S as well.

You would enjoy quest pro much more. Passthrough is the single thing worth upgrading and we keep improving it

…there is an absolute qualitative difference between VR and 2D. In principle, the use of 2D allows one to ‘frame’ an image, whereas no such frame exists in VR. Having a frame allows one to direct the view in a far more curated way than VR can manage currently. One of the biggest complaints people have in VR is tracking shots, and rapid cuts. It’s probably an inner ear thing, but it inevitably leads to complaints, however without such devices it’s impossible to tell a story in VR in the same way you can with 2D.

So, without this level of ability to direct the viewer, VR scenes tend to be more ‘experiential’. And here they work extremely well. Set up a camera and allow the action to progress around it, and allow the viewer to be drawn into the scene that way. It’s no wonder ‘Tommy torso’ is the only chap you ever see in VR, it’s the easiest way to bring the experiential to the VR viewer.

Not that every VR video has to have a cock front and centre, many of the earlier ones are still the most original out there, but the synergy between haptics and VR tend to present as an easy win for Tommy Torso and his front and centre cock, so more videos are made like this, and the more original videos are left unscripted, cos that’s the way confirmation bias works. Go check out ‘KinkyGirlsBerlin’ for a studio that’s desperately trying to find a way to shoot without Tommy, or this amazing shoot that doesn’t have a live male in it, so has no script:

Then there’s the obvious adoption of technology, everyone can shoot cinema quality footage, probably with their phone, and all of humanity has striven to construct an ecosystem of ways to process and disseminate 2D images that stretch back for untold millennia. VR lacks that foundation, when tries to adopt aspect of the 2D foundation people just feel sick and complain, so it gets relegated to ‘niche’ category. In many ways that’s the main problem, it’s just such a novel art form it’s like a newborn baby in a hurricane. It’s terribly cute, and full of potential, but has no idea where it’s going.

Not that i hate Tommy Torso, it’s a great way to engage with the experience, but it is very much the low-hanging fruit here. i would love to see more experimentation, more kink, more fetish, more unusual stuff in VR. Luckily for me, culture progresses in quantum leaps, so when it happens, it’ll happen fast. Big boom, probably quite soon. Personally i’ve been massively blown away by haptic VR sex, it’s absolutely become a kink in itself for me, so really looking forward to the future.

The other point here, about using VR to watch 2D is a bit of a non sequitur, but for the record, i almost exclusively watch all my 2D porn on my Quest 2, it’s just too damned convenient, i can watch in bed, the virtual screen is MASSIVE, and the immersion is total. I’m very much an immersion person.

In fact, i can categorically state i bought my Quest 2 with the sole intention of exclusively watching as much porn on it as i could. Tried gaming, it’s fun… but i miss the ass…! xx

what’s the Tommy Torso thing you are referring to?

Otherwise a unit of time in VR is of exponential cognitive value to what flat can offer. And it’s all growing with all the interactivity we add on top of videos.

It’s about time VR starts taking over.

Tommy Torso is the worst, but that’s just my opinion. It’s probably immersive VR for mannequins. For the rest of us it sucks.

Tommy Torso is the rubber legless manaquin with a cock that you see in a lot of VR videos, much more common in the early days of VR porn. Sometimes used by girls that want to simulate a 1v1 BG scene without actually fucking a real life man.

From the context it appears “Tommy Torso” was referring to the stationary torso-and-cock view we get from POV VR. Could be either flesh stunt cock or rubber I suppose.

Ohhhhh i didn’t read the whole thread. If it’s a human male i usually just refer to them as Male talent or Stunt Cock

I would argue that Tommy Torso is one specific thing (mannequin) and is being misapplied earlier in this thread. I do think that commenter has a point, but Tommy Torso can be as POV or not POV as any stunt cock so the term doesn’t solve the problem.
