Which Servos make sense for SR6?

I’m new and looking to build my first SR6. Im plenty experienced in building electronics as I have an electrical engineering background, write firmware for a living, and have experience in 3D modeling as well so I’m jumping straight to the SR6.

I have been ever built anything that has to deal with human force pushing back on it, is 25kg-cm torque enough or should I just go for the 35 or 45kg ones?

I want to make sure the SR6 I build can handle both fast, repetitive, and forceful motions.

Please help advice on a quality servo choice I can use!

I don’t know much about different servo model, so can’t help you choose one.

In my experience in making sr2, single 25Kg servo is a lil weak to stroke, 2 of them is enough for me. Most resistance in my case is from the vacum created by fully insert PP and pulling out.
I’m using MG996R which is very cheap but poor performance with high speed script (feels like weak vibrator when can’t keep up with the speed). So choose the servo with fast angle speed ig, and no need to worry about servo is weak bc normally theres multiple servos moving together

I actually have a bunch of TowerPeo MG996R Servos from previous robotics projects.

Should I just doa first pass of the SR6 build with these servos to test them? They are only rated for 9.6Kg-cm

I just figured that since the bom starts out at 25kg it wouldn’t be worth trying them

That’s a good idea, use them make a full device. So that if they don’t do a good job just easily swap them with other servos

25kg should be enough for most toys. You have 6 of them.

thanks!

has anyone ever tried with servos considerably smaller? How did 20-25kg become the recommended amount? A fleshlight is only ~0.7kg and the arm length of the SR6 doesn’t seem very far, maybe 15cm?

so 0.7kg * 15cm distance = 10.5kg*cm.

Theoretically it seems like much less should suffice
