@sentinel I really haven’t had any issues with the stiffness. I’m sure that there are probably ways to prevent movement, but the way my desk/office chair is set up, I coil the goose neck up like that and there’s very little movement. I might be able to take a video later and show you.
I’ve tried a whole bunch of different ideas from this thread and the hands free discord from The Handy team, but for convenience, price and ease of use, this just beats any of the other designs I’ve tried. I had a design that was more “secure” with screws and tension adjustment, but it just became such a chore to setup.
I used the one of the previous official handy .stls from the discord and modified it to fit the phone holder I had. If you use a different goose neck, the diameter of the outer hole might need adjustment, but that should be easy enough.
Here’s the .stl for my latest version: tighter handy
I also print it from the flat bottom up and have never had any issues. This latest version was printed with 3D honeycomb infill at 10% and lasted 6 months so far.
Thanks! I might try it out if I can find the same holder (or similar) that can be delivered to my country for a reasonable price. I want to avoid customs since the administration fee that the postal services forces upon you often becomes almost as high as the price of the ordered item in cases like this
I have to search, it will take me a while, but there was a brand of goosenecks everyone was recommending a year or so ago that was more for camera equipment. But it was like $50ish USD and then would require a desk mount. Let me see if I can find it. I believe it was an international brand too, so might be easier to find.
Don’t worry, I think I found the same gooseneck in Amazon EU. There is a newer one though that seems to be exactly the same but cost 20% more. Strange.
It would require a nut to be implanted in the 3D print (lhow the Handy team initially suggested, leaving an imprint for the nut and then pausing print midway to place nut, then print on top of it) and a custom desk mount. But this arm is much stiffer.
I just went with the cheap cell phone mount for convenience and price.
A doubt that everyone has it but they are so cheap these days so I bought one just to try it out It’s practical to have when you need a holder for a sleeve for instance. It should be possible to find lower end Creality Ender for around $200-$250.
I suspect that may be an issue - my contingency plan is to put something heavy, but not heavy enough to break the tray on top of it to keep in in check; as I say, this could be a disaster haha; I’m calling it an experiment
@lilshrimpo The vice is pretty heavy, likely will tip the tray over unless there is some way to counter balance it. If it doesn’t work, the vice works great clamped to a desk. Good luck!
There’s a guy on Reddit who injured himself using The Handy. Someone from the company replied saying that The Handy should be used with the controls facing towards him. Link here
I drew a new Fleshlight holder for The Handy. I would like to share the STL files here because I would like to contribute to this site.
Please on this site only because I want to thank everyone for the effort that makes a funscript.
Hey guys, I made my hands free desk mount with some super easy material to find. Below are the pictures and I will list links as to where you can find the materials I used. With the weather stripping in the bottle cage it has been able to hold its own even against some of the most intense scripts. No noticeable movement.
