This is an attempt to make a wiki post that gathers descriptions for tags from the community, which could hopefully help standardizing the usage of certain tags. It could also be used to identify duplicate and redundant tags for staff operations.

In Discourse 2.8.0 a tag description feature is added, which shows descriptions on tag banner and mouse hover. This post could also raise some suggestions for that.

I genuinely think that ability to edit / add tags should be limited to mods only. I swear there were discussions already to remove / merge some tags but they somehow returned.

Some tags that could be removed imo:
#4k #6k #7k - either remove or add the remaining resolutions
#action - I don’t get it, are there videos without action?
#bj-battle , #bj-battle-2023 - I get where this comes from but it could be in the title of the posts instead

These are rarely used or very specific, there is no point to keep them:
#alt-girl #apex-legends #bounce #chaturbate #daemongirl etc.

These are just examples, I think all tags with less than 5 uses should be removed or merged into the other ones.

I think the idea behind #action is that it distinguishes “normal” scripts from beat based #music scripts. That said, I think it’s safe to assume that if the script isn’t tagged as #music, then it would be #action by default.

Maybe this can be optimized by renaming #action to #action-based, in opposition with #audio-based.

#music is still a fuzzy term. Some uses it to describe videos featuring music, even if the script is based on action. And although very few, there are also scripts made for songs under this tag.

hmm I’m like 75/25 in favor of that. If I look at the list of tags that exist, the large majority of them certainly were not added by mods (I mean this as a good thing).

If we do make it mod only, I’d want a very streamlined way of making and accepting new tag creation.

I’m more inclined towards a community-driven tag system since I don’t expect anybody to be a master of all fetishes. However occasional maintenance is still needed to cull undoubtly unnecessary tags like #fendom .

I’m not sure if it’s possible to allow users of certain trust level to edit tag descriptions, which could help with the fuzzy tag usage situation a bit.

You probably shouldn’t write it contains underage characters because it sounds kinda illegal. Maybe instead just write "Animated scenes containing young-looking character.
This tag is required for such topics.".

Everyone who has access to lounge can edit tags I think.

Can relate. Thanks for making this!

daemongirl is a character model by artist Ryan Reos. It’s fine to remove it because she fits under the succubus genre. The tag also has only one post relating to horror which I think is mislabeled.

Bestiality vs. Furry

This does gets confusing. To make a distinction I think bestiality must involve sex between a plain animal (not in a human shape) and a human.

If one participant is 100% and the other is less than 10%, then it’s bestiality.

This has been addressed and now all topics tagged vibrator are ones where the performer is stimulated with a vibrator. That makes it a total of 4 topics only, though, probably delete?

Add tag #vibration-enhanced for scripts enhanced with vibrations.

I see why this is needed, though its usage can be difficult to standardize imo.
We can make a separate topic to discuss introducing new category of tags.

I would suggest so. Though it has been debated in this post.

I want to suggest a video length tags,
there isn’t any option to filter or search scripts based on video length,
I don’t want to overdo it, maybe just short and long tags?
Short stands for script based on video of 2 minutes or less.
And long for script based on video of 10 minutes or more.
