…as painful as this thread is to read, it is probably one of the most important ones on this site. The direction of this project (EroScripts et al.) in the future cannot not be ignored because it’s difficult to face.

One of the main criticisms of EroScripts is the lack of ability for users to easily find scripts, a direct streaming service with fully integrated scripts will give them far more visibility. An account system, which has been noted will be added, so that the scripters are fairly credited, will also enable feedback to reach them from a far wider audience. It is much easier to leave feedback if the site you need to leave the feedback on is staring you in the face after you just had your fun time, not to mention that the experience is fresh in one’s mind and one’s feedback more relevant.

i watch all my vids in VR, stand alone Quest2 / Handy. It is desperately easy for me to use SLR, so much more convenient than downloading, transferring, integrating, etc, so i completely understand how FapTap has the potential to revolutionize this site. (@Faptap Might it be possible to sideload FapTap onto a Quest2 at some point in the future? Is that crazy talk?)

If FapTap can provide all that it promises, and can remain a free service, then it will help protect the scripters on this site from more aggressive commercial interests. Someone somewhere is gonna come steal all this lovely data and do their own thing with it. Many in fact. They’re already doing it. The faster a community approved project like FapTap can come out the better, as the earlier it comes out, the greater market share it could potentially have. And as a free service, supported by the community, it would hopefully be top of the search engines (who wants a ‘paid for’ service, when the best one is free!), ensuring that the community grows.

This project (EroScripts et al.) is too important for infighting to destroy it. FapTap and EroScripts can go waltzing off into the sunset together, arm in arm, forever supporting each other, if that’s what the creators want.

I’d rather see that than some fucking cunt with a Telegram account scooping up all the low-hanging fruit, and running off to the bank laughing…

What is also to consider:
Sites like FapTap / Bukakke.moe can provide way more visibility, than a forum can. A forum is just a there for communication and maybe share some content here and there. But it’s not made for big content sharing and it shows.

For example, what FapTap / Bukkake.moe are able to do:

  • A feature on the main site, that highlights new script and especially new scripters, who posted their first script.
  • Top new scripts this week / month.
  • Scripts being used right now / recently.
  • Highlighting the top used scripts this week / month.
  • Highlighting the top new scripters this week / month.
  • Highlighting the top scripters of the week / month / year / all time.
  • Highlighting new categories.
  • Highlighting random scripts.
  • Highlighting niche scripts.
  • Highlighting popular models / pornstars.

There is SO much, that can help bringing more visibility to everyone. Threads are getting constantly getting buried here - zero comments - few hundred views. Do you really think people will continue contributing scripts, when this happens? People asking for feedback for their first script - no answers - few views - few likes. How likely is it, they will post another one? Very low I’d guess. Sites like FapTap / Bukkake.moe can help bringing more visibility and highlight especially new scripters.

There could be contests, who scripts the coolest blowjob video etc. (just for a fun, no real competition).
Seasonal themes and events, where the scripters release seasonal themed videos (like Christmas themed porn videos etc.).
There could be votes for the coolest scripts this month / year.
Votes who is the best newcomer.

So so much could be done. It just needs time, patience, and constructive feedback and a WHOLE community who is willing to accept change and is willing to help building this.

I really hope we as a community will choose the way, where we together provide constructive feedback and willing to help building that place. While I really like this place and I am very grateful for the hard work the mod- and admin team is doing, I think the future is in sites like FapTap / Bukakke.moe. This forum will still co-exist besides it and will always be a place for communication and verbal exchange.

I agree that a dialogue is important, and from what it seem Chris took some points to heart. I think scripters need to understand these changes won’t be made in a matter of a day or two. We will see if its headed in the right direction in the upcoming weeks / months.

What I don’t like about some comments here are people who think it’s totally ok to take all scripts from here, upload it to the other site and do it your own way. And as a cherry on top they will call scripters thieves who shouldn’t argue about their content being posted without any permission / communication in the first place. Building a site like faptap should always address concerns of both users and scripters. Without scripters the site would just die out of the lack of new scripts.

All in all, chill, give Chris a chance and maybe you will have your perfect place to visit for new scripts.

And btw there is still a topic of scripts for paid sites to discuss. What about those? Will we be able to post scripts like this on faptap? Maybe some sort of switch that enables / disables scripts with videos you need to pay for / find yourself?

FapTap is currently undergoing a complete rewrite. The old structure wasn’t suitable anymore for FapTap’s new goals.

The site is now built like a social media platform:

  • Creators (and also users) will have their own public profile under which they can post content. Maybe in the future not only videos, but also status updates or polls? They can add links to their shops, etc.
  • Users can subscribe to creators to get updates, like and comment on their videos
  • Recommendations (first screenshot, right) will highlight top/new/upcoming creators
  • Studio: Creators will have access to the FapTap studio (screenshot 3), where they can manage their content, view statistics, like views in the last 30 days, likes, subscribers. They can additionally add metadata to their content through tags or performers.
  • Custom generated feeds for users

These are just a few features that will now be possible.

Additionally, the new FapTap will start from scratch, meaning that no videos from the current FapTap will be migrated (the old site will still stay online for a while, until the new FapTap is ready). 100% creator controlled, I won’t upload any other users content from EroScripts.

Please remember, this is a work in progress. Over the coming days I will approach some script creators and give them access, so that they can test it out if they want (or you can PM me if you want).

@TheLandOfInfiniteFun Everything is possible, it just takes time. It should be possible through the Oculus Browser via WebXR (https://developer.oculus.com/webxr/). When the new FapTap is stable, I can look into it, I like challenges)).

I guess that could be implemented over the long-term. But yes, a discussion with script creators for the best approach is certainly needed.

The never ending comparison to subtitles. There is a major difference that invalidates the comparison. For a subtitle you copy the dialog from the movie into a piece of text and release. Notice the difference here, copy. Scripting is a creative process that can’t be copied from the work you are doing it for. Therefore you should compare scripting with something like doing a dance choreography made for a piece of music. Unless you actually perform using the music without a license you don’t do any copyright infringement. In the scripting case, get a copy of the script, get a legal copy of the video and enjoy it together.

I like this version, it looks much better than the first version.

Consider having 2 account options for regular users and script creators. For example, I’m not sure if I have enough time to add all my scripts, but you can make it so that any user can upload the script to the site and add a request to the creator, and after approval the script would appear on the site.

The argument used by stackexchange is applicable to all derivative works, not just subtitles.

I don’t see the difference between translation, dance choreography or creating funscripts. In all cases, the derivative work requires a considerable amount of creativity from the creator. The law says you need permission to create derivative works. The law also says that works based on other works are derivative works. Unless you want to argue that funscripts aren’t “based on” a preexisting work, they are derivative works regardless of the amount of creative effort you put into it.

I don’t think these laws are fair, but this is what the law says. There are exceptions under which you can publish derivative works without copyright infringement, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a derivative work.

Unless you actually perform using the music without a license you don’t do any copyright infringement.

I really like that the old site u can have 21 thumbnails at the time and saves alot of time looking for what u want, it was one of the plus points compared to Eroscript.

Is it possible to have a feature to still be able to do that? that would be awesome because scrolling and have like 2 thumbnails at the time would less optimal and fun imo.

Another bit of feedback that might be controversial it would be a shame to miss out some gem scripts because a creator did not respond or reached out to put their script out, so i was wondering if there could be a solution for that.

If the creator doesn’t want it there that is fine, im more concerned for old or inactive scripters who don’t mind there scripts to be there or don’t have the opportunity to do it.

That thing, that’s Bukkake.moe. We already went through this song and dance with it and all the gripes were ironed out. Why, for the almighty fuck’s sake, can’t you guys acknowledge that all of this has happened before and we already came up with a solution?

…because there can be more than one solution to a problem, because there can always be better solutions to a problem, and because this is not the last time this is going to happen.

The fact that Chris has responded to the various requests by presenting a solution that involves a total rebuild of all their work seems on the face of it to be an appropriately grown up response.

Let Chris prove their doubters wrong by presenting a genius community driven fait accompli program, or be hoisted by their own petard of false promises, imma go stock up on moar popcorn…

That it took him 2 months to acknowledge something told to him on the very first day and then “promise” to rebuild instead of enacting the substantially easier fix even temporarily demonstrates that he validates those doubts and in no way deserves to be called a genius.

I confess that the search feature on this website is mystifying. No idea how it works. I type in stuff and hit enter and nothing happens. Then sometimes something happens and it brings up some vids. Mostly unrelated to what I’m searching. Amazing, really.

I have a request, which is that the video player that runs within the page on an android device allows one to switch to a vr mode i.e. splits the screen in two and plays the video twice, in the same way that the handyfeeling local video player does, with a small goggles icon in the bottom right. That way you could watch with a Cardboard setup instead of a small phone screen or a laptop.

In copyright law, a derivative work is an expressive creation that includes major copyrightable elements of an original, previously created first work.

Which major copyrightable elements of porn videos are you suggesting are being included in script files?

On the topic of bukake.moe and faptap, i personally ended up ignoring bukake.moe because while the original porn sites work fine for me, that site manages to buffer for around 3 to 5 seconds for every half second to a second of video that it plays, with the sync getting worse and worse as it plays, making it unusable for me. I’d managed to forget it existed until it got re-mentioned here, when I tried it again and quickly remembered why.

Faptap doesn’t have that problem for me, though once I realised scripts were being used without permission I found myself steering clear, well that and the script motions feeling like they were being halved on the keon (from the start, well before there was talk of such a function). I’m very happy to see the new direction where scripts go up with permission and encourage feedback.

I’m really enjoying the site! Very responsive, a clean interface and easy to use. Just found one problem while trying to open it directly on my TV’s web browser. It connects to my handy, but when I click any video the player doesn’t appear. I can hear the sounds and the scripts play normally, but the video never shows up.
It would be very cool to have the site directly on the TV

This is the actual definition of a derivative work, as written in the law:

a work based upon one or more preexisting works, such as a translation, musical arrangement, dramatization, fictionalization, motion picture version, sound recording, art reproduction, abridgment, condensation, or any other form in which a work may be recast, transformed, or adapted…

(see stackoverflow for references)

Notice that it doesn’t say elements of the preexisting works are included in the new work, merely that the work is based upon a previous work. My interpretation is that if a funscript file follows the same rhythm as the porn video, it is based upon copyright work and therefore a derivative work.

This might seem far-fetched, but remember that publishing guitar tabs is copyright infringement and doesn’t fall under any fair use exceptions. Even if you mess up half the notes and improvise half of the song, still infringement. Now suppose that you would have a piece of software that converts guitar tabs into sex toy movements. Obviously this changes nothing about the legality of guitar tabs. That’s basically what funscripts are, right?

It’s possible that funscripts fall under a fair use exemption, I don’t know, I’m not an expert in copyright law. I’m just a random guy that thinks this situation is funny.
