I’ve been scripting for less than 6 months, but I wanted to share my perspective. I’m using an AI translator, so if anything is unclear, please feel free to ask for clarification.
I started scripting because I wanted to create scripts for the videos I personally liked, and I began sharing them for free because it felt like a waste to keep them to myself. It was fun seeing people download and react to my work, which motivated me to keep making scripts.
However, even when I post a free script, most people just download the file and leave, aside from a few ‘likes.’ There’s almost no feedback on whether the script is actually good or bad. Even when comments are posted, besides the occasional ‘thanks,’ most are just complaints about the video source: ‘The link is expired,’ ‘I can’t access Iwara, please upload to Pixeldrain,’ etc. From a free scripter’s perspective, it makes you lose motivation quickly.
That said, I firmly believe that rewards for free scripts should never be money or tokens that can be exchanged for paid scripts. First, if the reward for a free script becomes material, can we truly call it a ‘free script’ anymore? While there are many high-quality scripters who share their work out of goodwill—and I am deeply grateful to them and continue to produce free work myself—we also need a solution to prevent people from uploading ‘garbage’ scripts just to farm tokens. How would we even monitor or verify all those junk scripts? I don’t think anyone wants to give their own paid scripts to someone churning out low-quality work.
As for the current issue of low-quality AI-generated paid scripts, I don’t have a perfect answer. Resources are limited, and I’m not sure if there’s a ‘silver bullet’ for verification. A radical change in site policy might help, but it would inevitably cause backlash. So, rather than focusing solely on the over-uploading of paid scripts, I believe we need something to motivate free scripters.
While visible rewards like badges or marks are important, I personally think the best motivation is a culture of leaving comments and likes. In my experience, the most enjoyable part was knowing others were using my script and receiving feedback—hearing which parts were good or which parts needed improvement. Engaging with people through feedback is what gave me the motivation to fix, share, and create more.
I know that the atmosphere of a community’s comment section won’t change overnight. However, I wanted to emphasize that instead of seeking material rewards or abruptly changing rules, it’s more important to provide emotional motivation and ‘honor’ in a way that aligns with the true essence of what a ‘free script’ should be.
