SexLikeReal Stroker in the making

Same here, no money from me any more, the 10 to 3 scripts change within the subscription makes them highly untrustworthy. Intention to lock to their device is likely with exclusives. Dont connect to them with their firmware, they may log it or use it otherwise.

It feels many of you guys got stuck in some stone age cave.

Look around and it’s clear all the great services are cloud now for a reason. There has to be high level vision and product development connecting millions of users and creators. Making things work magically instead of getting stuck on every step.

You praise data hoarding that’s the worst thing for creators who have their checks to pay to create this piece of content you enjoy, some greazy configs only geeks can figure out. You even hate compliance that prevents porn getting into crazy shit despite it brings a lot of suffering to human beings. You are so hostile to everyone looking to get things right.

Come on guys… There are other things in life. You can be better than this

The main reason for cloud services is to create a perpetual revenue stream. The second reason is for piracy. But those “great” services aren’t the ones that make it harder to do things you want. They’re the ones that are continuously updating their apps to add features that set them apart from their competition. It’s very rare that the great ones ever take features away, and they usually suffer consequences when they do.

And yes, I praise data hoarding. It’s great for the consumer and industry as a whole. It forces creators to develop new content in order to continue receiving revenue. And when the quality of that new content suffers I’m not forced to continue paying for access to old content.

In the end it was YOU who started a conversation on a forum of enthusiasts for jerkoff robots, and then get super defensive when those enthusiasts point out that your not making a machine for them. We wish you were. We wish you were taking the best innovations that enthusiasts have come up with to create something even better, but you’re not and it’s disappointing.

With the only difference that creators are making money with Spotify, Youtube, SexLikeReal and not with data hoarding. Creators heavily depend on SLR monthly check. And yes, they are barely getting a dime from hoarders.

But for you white is black, black is white. Keep on lying to yourself

Unfortunate to see.

man I haven’t commented but this is a super disappointing response. Like you think you’re better than other people :frowning:

What’s unfortunate?

Well the community of scriptwriters, thanks to which SLR has grown to the leading player in the VR-video market with scripts directly asked - will it be possible to use their new device without their services. They also got a straightforward answer - probably not.
This, by the way, is against what you are doing for the community with OSR2 and SR6.
P.S. didn’t see it through - my answer doesn’t fit:)

with all due respect, but it’s more like Netflix developing a super-duper TV that I can only use to watch Netflix content. If I then want to watch something on HBO, I have to use a different device.

I’m assuming that a lot of users switch content providers on a regular basis - so your stroker is doomed to failure in my opinion. Nevertheless, I wish you the best of luck.

Don’t forget SSR1, which by the way came directly out of research I was doing with SLR at the time. They have been very generous in supporting my general research the last couple of years.

I get it. I personally wouldn’t buy a television if I could only use it to watch Netflix, regardless of how seamlessly tied into Netflix’s streaming experience it was. It’s a service that I don’t own that might change into something I don’t want next month, leaving me with an expensive useless brick.

If the TV had an “Aux in” HDMI port things would be different. This is the reason I first came up with TCode. I personally would like this SLR device to have TCode input as a built-in option. I’ve advocated for that from the start and I will continue to. It’s SLR’s device at the end of the day though, so their choice to make.

There will always be people who want full ownership of their own device, to build, maintain, upgrade, and use it for whatever they want. For that I’m your guy and I don’t plan on going anywhere. I am currently working on SSR1 Beta, which will be a more refined, simpler, easier to build version of the current Alpha device. A silent multi axis machine is also in the works.

Hey @Tempest your devices intrigue me. I have a handy which is great being so simple. So any of your current devices work without a PC? In other words can you connect any up to bluetooth on a quest for example and stream from SLR like handy can?
I do have a PC though hich I use heresphere for. Could any of them work through wifi or bluetooth streaming to a quest in another room via xbvr etc?
Thanks

I guess it will be a great way to move on with 3rd party apps accessing SLR Toy with some sort of SLR Haptics connect app. That should work for everyone. Once connected should work offline as well. I guess Handy is doing something similar

Added to the OP as well

How many SLR users and PH users are there?
Limiting it to just SLR always means a smaller audiene to target. Economy therefor needs to balance costs vs gains for many platforms.

The old download + simple script sync has as benefit that it essentialy means any platform can be made to work. Sure, it might use bluetooth with a far underperforming sync quality, but it still makes it work for those users.

Having a more open protocol just makes your device usable at more places. Sure, it might be a hassle to set up a local server, but thats not something SLR needs to care about, someone can just make the code to fake a server or anything, and it will be fine. But it being possible can cause the community to make your product more flexible.

EDIT: to add a comparison, lovense doesnt realy support much outside off their own protocol, but since they arent realy disrupting other programs from talking to it, their products work fine with 3rd party software. And thats essentialy all that is needed here to make your product open

The bigger and more of a monopoly a company has, the more problems they will cause, making outages in some areas common.

I think its brave to be pushing this anti consumer walled garden shit when there are competitor devices out there that don’t. why wait for this SLR device? there are off the shelf osr2s, sr6s, and now funsr2 with your so-called next gen twist feature coming out of china that you can buy today and use however you’d like.

Exactly, anything being released now that doesn’t twist is a step behind, and then being walled is another mark against it. Too bad.

You, working with SLR at all. It is what it is. I understand with the support you are getting, but still disappointed.

And that’s the main reason (among many) I’ve never used an iPhone. A corporation deciding what software I’m allowed to run on my own device is a no go. Literally the same as a toaster manufacturer deciding what brands of bread I’m allowed to toast.

Good reply. Reassuring. I appreciate you.

You build what you build and take the money when you can! There’s always your next device and the influence you have on other device creators. I entertain no hope of changing you know who’s take on owning personal hard drives. He’s just weird that way. But I will say that while both VRBangers and VRConk now officially limit users to streaming, everything shows up for download on VRPorn.com a few months later. So whatevs…

Very unfortunate to see these kind of responses. Cancelled my membership due to them.
