Hey guys, I’m in the market for a SR6 (or OSR2+?), and I don’t own a 3d printer. Having trouble navigating buying options in this space.
I want to buy the “best” pre-built setup possible… (whatever this means) I’ve searched the forum and see there’s a handful of sellers, some of which do not have any available units for sale - is it worth waiting for a drop? Does the scarcity translate to something like better construction etc?
Looking for opinions as to who to buy from - does anyone stand out above the competition? is there anyone who has tried comparing different sellers? (I realise this is fishing for a niche inside a niche…)
Check out my feedback thread here - I’m super thankful that I have a lot of customers that have taken the time to give their feedback (more impactful than any sales pitch I can give you )
The scarcity/drop situation is because the sellers on the site aren’t commercial businesses. The SR6 and OSR2+ are more of a hobbyist/enthusiast device than it is a commercial product compared to most of the other devices(TheHandy, Keon, Launch etc). These aren’t made in a factory and assembled, they’re printed out and then hand assembled by the sellers.
It costs money time and material to print and assemble each unit they make and if it doesn’t sell then it takes up space. So for them its probably easier to make a few units at a time and move those before doing more.
Things to note: all sellers basically sell/offer adapters for a variety of sleeves. I strongly suggest having a sturdy desk or you will need to buy a separate freestanding mount since these are not handheld devices. These devices come with a desk mount but a lot of people recommend a monitor arm. Most sellers will require a separate purchase of a power supply.
OSR2+ Only sellers Vespera from photos does good work and from posts it seems like his customers are satisfied with their purchase. His devices come with the twist module(can ask for no twist module for a cheaper price). He ships from the UK so thats something to take note of. He sells in batches and from what I understand he’s currently taking a break after his last batch sold.
G90ak (he literally beat me to this thread as I was typing) is someone I’ve bought a unit from and he seems to be one of the most popular sellers on the site for OSR2’s. His product and service are impeccable and you get access to exclusive scripts(there’s a lot in the MEGA). Ships from the US and he sells in batches but he’s a lot more regular with his batches(he sells several units at the beginning of the month, sometimes he sells some at the middle, since its about to be June he’s likely to throw up more units for sale soon). The only thing to note is he does not currently have twist modules on his units. Its easy enough to buy an after market twist module and install it yourself since he designed his board to be plug and play.
OSR2 and SR6 sellers CraftyHandy sells both types of units through their website. Haven’t really heard anything bad about their product and from photos everything looks professional and clean. You can also buy parts to upgrade.
Mosaic or Yourhobbiescustomized is another seller that works through their website. I haven’t purchased a unit from them but accessories/parts and they were functional but a rough print. From what I understand they have a lead time on their product so you might buy the unit but it won’t ship out immediately since I think they make them one by one rather than in a batch.
As of the quality, G90ak/Vespera should have the 100/100 as you can see from the photos, other makers have great but not perfect quality
So you basically have to choose between a perfect OSR2 or a well-done SR6 with twist
Well and maybe SSR1 but you want to try multiaxis (its great) so not now
