I’m not sure if you’re being incredibly naive or just arguing in bad faith.
First they initially did the change without any warning, so it wasn’t initially clear that the downloads were moved to the Play’a app. It is still not indicated anywhere on their site AFAIK except if you go to their forum, which it not prominent at all on their website (I’m a lifetime sub and I didn’t know they had one).
Next you’d have to ask yourself why they went from providing the downloads on their website (which is what all other sites do) to their app only and what it might mean for the future.
If people weren’t complaining about this change, they’d definitely take it as meaning that they could remove downloads altogether.
Just as you decided to use Linux instead of Windows or MacOS, what if someone told you that you must switch to another OS to continue using a service that has worked well on Linux for years? I simply don’t like having my choice being taken away when it works well as it is.
I also don’t see this as an improvement of the service, quite the opposite. Sure, it’s their right, but consumers have the right to complain and stop using the service if needed be.
You are wrong. The service they sold was a streaming video service where they would also provide a download functionality. I.e. download links for each video. Or as they put it: downloading available.
VRBangers has removed the download functionality from their website so they are now in breach of contract with everyone. People that have a life time membership are now entitled to a refund. It is as simple as that. It does not matter what they print in the EULA in this regard. Well, at least not for those of us who live in the EU. For US based people I think you call this a “bait and switch”? Which is also illegal.
Even now they advertise with “Downloading Available”:
Seems like someone created a browser extension to fix this already -
(found on the latest Nicole Aniston video on VRB)
For Google Chrome:
- Download ZIP file from Releases · dvick/vrbdownres · GitHub
- Type in “chrome://extensions/” in the address bar
- Press “Load unpacked” and select the ZIP file
I personally use Brave
-
Download zip and unzip
-
Go to brave://extensions/ and enable developer mode
-
Select Load Unpacked
-
Select the folder you unzipped.
-
Refresh VRB and downloads should appear.
Thanks, was getting ready to cancel the account. Firefox extension re-enabled it
Unlimited thanks to you, you save my VRBangers lifetime member life !
Thanks for posting that. Makes life so much easier.
Can confirm this worked for the Edge browser (Chromium-based) as well. Took me a minute to figure out that you do need to download the ‘Source Files’ zip file (and that’s it).
The chrome extension worked for me as well. Thanks to the author and @ruffryder93 for point it out to us!
Was “suspended indefinitely” from the VRB forum. Didn’t harass anyone. Just stated my own disappointed in their discission to take away downloads and the issues with playa, acknowledged the fake accounts posting on videos and supported others posting their issues. LOL
The entire post on their forums has been either removed or hidden from public now. Still no download button, though.
If I download a video onto my oculus in the PlayaVR app, is there a way to access them in the DeoVR app or move them to a folder that the DeoVR app recognizes?
How do you know they are hidden and not deleted? To me there appears to be no trace left of them, no way to find them and there also no longer is a way to create new threads.
It’s an assumption. My profile still shows the number of posts I made that would include that topic, even though the posts themselves don’t show. It could be actually deleted, though.
EDIT: And now they’ve hidden the support topic that kicked this whole thing off asking why we can’t download videos. Seems they’re just going the “censor everything about it until it blows over” route.
Once upon a time PLAY’A VR supported vertical menu adjustment which i loved.
Then they remade it, removed vertical adjustment and it became shit
They deleted all the download button threads on their forum and disabled users from making new posts
There was a time when VRB limited 8K downloads to only subs that had a lifetime or yearlong subscription, which they seem to have walked back as far as I can tell; hopefully they give up on all of this BS. I just wish I could get the VRB scripts I missed when they pulled out of SLR.
Has anyone tried to cancel VRBangers recently? You Can’t! Go through Epoch payment site, find your account and hit cancel. You get this full page “offer” with no “No!” button. Only accept!
I had to edit the code in my browser to make the No button appear and be functional.
Before:
After:
Then the No button appeared and worked.
To the surprise of no one, the same changes are coming to VRConk.
This time they directly locked their forum post about it, so I guess they’re learning
Yea I just got an e-mail about the changes. Coming August 31.
