FUNSR1 - the better Handy - my detailed review

what mount do you use? now my vesa mount screws dont fit the funsr1. they slide in and out

You can buy different screws then, you don’t have to get a new mount.

I am not sure this thread is active but…New to SR1 and having trouble getting it to operate at all. Hoping someone can help. At the moment I am just trying to get computer to recognize it and get some movement to confirm it is not a defective unit. I started with the Mutlifunplayer/ MPV as described in the review. Mutli insists serial is disconnected. Then I tried running through the Ayla website as described in the tutorial. Initially site said serial was undefined. After switching to Chrome, Ayla site says it is connected. I think I have the right port because when I pull the USB, it reflects as disconnected on Ayla. When I ‘start’ operation, the image on the site moves but SR1 is dead. I know the unit is getting power because there is a slight buzz when turned on. Other than a few slight occasional twitches when powered on, there is no movement. I downloaded the driver referenced in the tutorial. The buttons on the unit do not work at all which is frustrating because I specifically asked the merchant about manual operation via buttons.

I probably should have stuck with the handy but I wanted something more robust that could handle heavier payload (been through 2x handy). I am not super computer savvy though I have VR and VAM and can usually get up to speed with instructions.

Hoping there is something simple I am missing and that the unit is not simply broken or defective. I am working with the merchant who has been responsive but there is a time difference. Thought I would ask the community. Any help would be appreciated.

Double check your magnet orientation, the N/S pole needs to be orthogonal to the encoder. This can result in jerky movement when trying to execute moves.

Also check that you haven’t punched the bolts that hold the motor into the coils. If you use too long of a bolt to mount it, you can damage the coils and get the behavior you describe.

I’m using mine through bluetooth and had to point multifunplayer to the right comport and it worked. maybe thats the problem?

I really appreciate the response. But how do you activate the bluetooth? It seems most devices have to be searchable by computer. Usually there is a button on the device. When I scan for the device either with intiface or try to connect through multifunplayer, there is no recognition that the device is there and not sure how you enable bluetooth on the device. I thought using the USB would be a more stable route, particularly given the notes in the review. Not having much luck…

Is everything set up correctly in Multifunplayer? Did you choose the correct serial port? Also, check the serial port settings - device has to be disconnected to check the settings.

If you don’t know what serial port the FUNSR1 is on, open the hardware manager - type in Windows search. Open it and find something that says “Connection (COM & LPT)” - I don’t know exactly know what it’s called in English, since my Windows is not English. Once you found it, right click and properties. Then go to “device settings” (or whatever it’s called in English). Check the settings and make sure Multifunplayer has the same settings like in the hardware manager.

It looks like this - your settings may be different, that’s normal.

I really appreciate the response. I am not seeing the option to change those settings in multifunplayer (I cannot find the screen you provided) MFP simply says serial is disconnected. Not identifying any com. I can confirm what port device is using through device manager USB SERIAL COM 3 (CH 340) but I cannot enter the information in multifunplayer. Where are those device settings options?

I have had similar problem with Intiface. I am not able to pull up “advance device configuration” to enter this information. I have looked at OSR2/SR6 to Intiface Central connection unofficial rough guide but I cannot pull advanced setting options.

I have confirmed I have latest versions and driver. I will keep working on it but any additional help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, how do I choose a serial port in mfp? not seeing any option there. Thanks again.

How does your MFP look?
Doesn’t it look like this, with “Serial” on the bottom and “serial port”?

It does not have the additional bottom segment allowing the options for serial port. It is cut off below where it indicates serial is disconnected. I can choose serial out of the menu of output options and that is all.

Oops. I do see those options now. Hopefully this is the problem.

Ok, good you see it now. See if everything correctly configured, especially this:
FUNSR1 - the better Handy - my detailed review - General - EroScripts

It is indicating connected Com 3 and the settings are consistent. Still no movement when I load script. I will toy with it. hoping I am close.

Ok, that would be the only option I can come up with, with that kind of problem. Let me know how it goes.

Thank you. I will try to find a resolution through the merchant or otherwise. I really appreciate all of your help.

You are welcome. I hope you are getting it to work.

Max, in your device manager it should look something like this. switch it in mfp to the one that says standard serial over bluetooth.
sdfgsdfgsdfgsdgf it may be different on your pc but choose that one

Thanks for the additional advice. I am not seeing a list of ports like that on device manager. It is basically whatever I plug the machine into pops up in device manager indicating the com. I switched to Com 5 port. It reads USB Serial Ch340 (Com 5) in device manager. I switched to com 5 mfp. I confirmed the settings were same bt device manager and mfp. mfp says it is connected to Com 5. I load scrip and it shows moving in software. There is no reaction from the machine.

I moved connection around to view each com in device manager to find “standard serial over bluetooth link” - there is not that designation - all of them read the same with only the “com” # variation (1-7).
