I have a new Quest 3 and The Handy and wanted to connect the HereSphere VR Video Player (Demo) v0.11 to The Handy.
Unfortunately it doesn’t work. I always get the error message ‘Invalid Connection Key’. The key is correct (I double checked it) and The Handy is in wifi mode. I can connect via handyfeeling website without any problem but Heresphere player throws this error instantly after entering the key and pressing the toggle button. Any ideas for this?
A second question: is there a way to store username and password for the samba network folders? I have to re-enter it everytime I open the app again.
For saving SMB credentials, click on the star icon in the upper left corner of the SMB menu and add a bookmark after entering your SMB credentials and connecting. Click on the bookmark to load the SMB directory with your credentials.
Not sure why the Handy isn’t connecting for you. Maybe try power cycling your handy, headset, router, etc. Also, the connection key is case sensitive.
Hi there, loving the Heresphere experience - very happy that I’ve switched to this from Pigasus, it’s been a massive improvement imo.
Ran into something I didn’t have happen before, not sure if I accidentally hit a setting or this is how it is meant to function.
Previously when I would watch a 2D video and hit “B” to open the mini menu bar with media controls, it would always appear on top. I’ve noticed all of a sudden that sometimes, depending on the zoon level of the video, the menu is behind the media controls box, and I’ll have to zoom out to access that menu.
Is this common or have I done something that I can fix?
So I have an Autoblow Ultra, I bought the full Heresphere 2 days ago and have been trying to get it to connect. That includes putting my personal code in the blank as instructed, but I cannot get it to connect so far. I’m looking for some instructions on what else to try, as well as how to pair scripts and videos within heresphere to play together once and if I do get it working. I know the auto blow integration is new and I am a guinea pig, so can anyone suggest something for my to try?
Are you on v0.11.0? It’s currently being tested on the RC channel, which you have to switch to if you’re using Meta App Lab. Go to the HereSphere App Lab page, make sure you’re logged in to your Meta account, scroll down to version, and then click on the version number to switch to the RC channel. You can check the version number in the HereSphere app by going to the user guide menu (bottom of the left side panel), and then click on “About”. Make sure you’ve entered in the correct connection key, and that your autoblow is in wifi mode.
I’m happy to report that by following your instructions I am able to connect now with my Autoblow Ultra. I can do manual generic controls, but I have not figured out how to load a script that matches the video I’m watching. Is there an easy tutorial for that? I have tons of scripts and matching videos downloaded into the device. Does it have something to do with moving them into a particular folder? Navigating files on the Quest is quite a pain.
Where are your video files located and how are you accessing them? Usually, you just need to make sure the script is in the same directory as the video, and it has the same file name except for the file extension. If you’re using an app like xbvr to stream the videos, then you’ll need to match the script file to the scene using the xbvr UI.
Okay, so I used a data usb-c cable to hook up the quest to my PC. From there, I am in the process of naming each video and matching script the same thing. It’s a little bit of a process since I have a lot. But, that should solve things.
I don’t know what xbvr is, I may need someone to educate me if it’s a much easier solution.
I will say this. Using Heresphere itself to watch downloaded videos and matching scripts is much easier and faster than loading each one and searching and clicking the script using the fun.autoblow site. So for that, I thank you. It’s just a matter of naming every video and script the same. What a pain that you can’t do that inside of the quest and have to use your PC.
Click the Beta Participation dropbox and select “beta - beta test”
You can do the same with SteamVR, but in my experience, some of the beta updates aren’t really ready for using with VR titles designed for the production client.
I just added a new HDD with a new smb share, and this has led me to discover an unusual behavior with Heresphere. Heresphere consistently crashes on the second new video that I attempt to play. The first new video plays, but when I attempt to play the second new video, it freezes for several seconds and then crashes. When I open Heresphere again, I can now play those videos because it recognizes them as previously played, then I can play one new video, and then it crashes once again on the second new video. I’ve even tried playing new video #1, then a series of previously played videos, and then it still crashes when I attempt to play new video #2.
I’ve found these results consistent across different smb shares, hard drives, and machines. This behavior even happens when attempting to play videos from an smb share connected directly to my router. I’m currently on version 0.11.1. I’ve tried to downgrade to several different versions, but for some reason it won’t let me. I don’t know that this would make a difference though because I’ve always found Heresphere to be a bit unstable and this could actually be the reason why. Perhaps this bug also has something to do with why playlists won’t work.
I had this issue, and it turned out that when I transferred files to my NAS (Synology) they were getting permissions of 600. They’d show up on DLNA okay, but Heresphere was unable to read them and would appear to lock up. Changed permissions to 666 and it worked fine.
If the app is crashing often, the saved data might be corrupted. Try going to the user settings, saving a backup, and then uninstall and reinstall the app. If a fresh install works, but restoring the data causes the issue to persist, then the saved data is probably corrupted.
The permissions of the file on the NAS or whatnot. Here’s a quick check: try playing the video from another computer through the SMB (i.e., on Windows open up \smb-share and go through there). Does the video play correctly there?
