HereSphere VR Video Player for Quest 2/Pro/3 supports Handy, Keon, Launch and Passthrough

There currently isn’t a way to see play count in the SMB or file explorer, just the media library has play count info.

@HereSphere Thanks for the help. It looks like corrupted saved data was indeed the culprit. Starting over with a fresh install solved the crashing issue when playing a second new video. Unfortunately I still get the freeze and crash whenever I try to create a playlist.

@intermit You can see my message above regarding new videos crashing the player. That part seems to now be resolved. I don’t really know what NAS is. For my smb shares with a direct connection to my router, it’s just a hard drive connected to a laptop. I don’t know if there are permissions like you described with this kind of set up. If so do you think changing the permissions would fix my problem with playlists which is any time I select videos and create a playlist Heresphere freezes for 5 to 20 seconds and then crashes. It seems similar to the other problem I was having.

is there a way to get subtitles working with DLNA? i named the files the same and put it in the same location but it doesn’t seem to work.

You’ll need to place the subtitle file in the “HereSphere” folder on the Quest local storage (create one if it doesn’t exist). Also make sure the name of the subtitle file matches the title of the video shown in the seekbar. Sometimes DLNA servers will rename videos, like getting rid of underscores or hyphens.

will the app ever support 2 bluetooth devices, i.e. Kiiroo Keon and powerblow?

What are HSP files and what is their purpose? These files with the names of my videos were appearing in my Quest 3’s recent files which I don’t want in case someone else using my headset sees them in the file browser. I disabled the autocreation of HSP files in heresphere settings but will this prevent any important functions of the app?

HSP files contain saved video settings/tags. They’re just backups, though, so you don’t need them.

Can you help me troubleshoot why when I stream 8k videos it stutters every few sec and has to buffer? I tried both DLNA and SMB and both buffer like crazy. 4k has no problem.

I don’t think it’s the WiFi because I can play the same exact videos over Pigasus VR player. I much prefer to use your app over Pigasus, I just wish it didn’t need to buffer so much.

Any settings I can tweak?

Thank you so much.

You dont have Nvidia card, right? AMD does not buffer over 6K or so.

I’m on m2 Mac

Mac does not have processing power. You would need the fastest Mac Studio I guess.

If you can connect you Mac to your router with an ethernet cable, that might help. You can get a usb to ethernet adapter for pretty cheap, if your Mac doesn’t have an ethernet port built in.

Is there a simple way to disable guardian for this app on quest 3 without patching the apk?

Ok, I found the issue. I used a custom connection key with 12 characters. With this I always got immediately the error message ‘Invalid Connection Key’. After changing back to 8 characters everything works well. I hope this helps for bugfixing.

Am I misremembering, or did the standalone app streaming POVR videos with a bluetooth toy used to work?

Maybe that’s limited to local files? I could have sworn I streamed via their API with my Keon connected and it worked before…

I recently got a handy, and I am wondering if there are plans for controlling it directly via bluetooth in heresphere instead of over wifi? I don’t have wifi at home, so I use my phone as hotspot w handy which is a hassle. Also, I would preferably like to keep my quest 2 offline when watching “movies”

Using Intiface with Scriptplayer works perfect over bluetooth. There is a post about how to configure this setup but i don’t remember where i read it. I’m sure you can figure it out. It works perfect.

Edit: Oh, by the way you need a computer for this.

Thanks for the tip, however it looks like scriptplayer is an app for PC?

I would like to play video from internal storage and sync directly to handy via bluetooth while keeping quest in offline mode, having to connect to PC via wifi to use scriptplayer does not achieve this. Is there any other options?

I do have a PC and can use sidequest.

@HereSphere i agree that a direct bluetooth connection would be a big positive step for the app. Heresphere has been my favorite app since the day i bought it but handy connection over wifi is really a pain to be honest. It’s very unstable. Every time i fast forward it loses sync. Using Intiface+Scriptplayer solves the problem for me but it would be wonderful not to have to sit in front of the computer.

I think you’ll need to use the feelconnect app, though I haven’t tested it yet. POVR’s scripts are run by Connect & Control, so HS doesn’t directly control your device. There might be instructions on the POVR forums.
