Is that a thing? I watch JAV vr content and these days care more about the subtitles than the funscript, but unfortunately the amount of subtitles available is slim and none for some of the better videos. Are there any creators that do commissions just for subtitles?
Have read these howto threads? The last one is the current one but I don’t know if you need the older ones too. It has obviously been an evolution here, probably since AI has evolved a lot the last couple of years.
How to create subtitles for a scene (even if you don’t understand the language)
How to create subtitles for a scene (2024)
How to create subtitles for a scene (2025)
If I understand it correctly this tool is used in the process:
FunscriptToolbox
There is also a thread where subtitles created using the described method above are published:

I myself have some experience subtitling and translating Japanese when there’s original Japanese text dialogue, but I’m not proficient enough to confidently offer my services when it comes to spoken Japanese.
I used to commission a freelance translator, but the price was a bit hefty since I wanted to pay at least minimum wage for the projected working hours.
Look into the SubtitleCreationWorkflow by Zalunda linked above by sentinel. There are manual polishing steps to ensure quality; see if you can bother reaching those steps.
If you come to the conclusion that you’re willing to use the workflow or pay someone to do so, let me know which one. I could see myself at least attempting doing the manual polish to correct AI hallucinations.
If you instead want to pay for an AI free* professional translator, you’ll be looking at like ten times the cost and it’d probably not be from some user on here.
yeah, i looked into the workflow. some of the tools mentioned are missing from the thread. and even then the subtitles it produces are kinda bad.
that workflow didnt work too well for me as some tooling was broken or missing, but i used whisperjav and it produced something. It can spit out straight japanese text or convert to english, i did the english output and its kinda okayish, but it contextually gets confused. Like it keeps saying things like “Do you want me to touch your pussy?” or “I get nervous when I touch a girl for the first time.” or “You can’t throw away your weapon, okay?”
as it gets confused on the speaker during translation (i assume thats when it happens). its also just a major hassle on my dogbutt graphics card.
Even if the subtitles aren’t perfect it might be better than not having any at all. Anyways, if you are still interested then maybe you should check with Zalunda directly and ask for an update on the instructions. Zalunda added new subtitles the the watch topic just a month ago so the workflow should still be in active use.
I created many subtitles using Zalunda’s workflow and I think it’s really good. Sure you have to run the video manually one time to find missing subtitles or adjust some subtitle duration, but you can do decent subtitles yourself that way without knowing the language. I barely have to change anything afterwards. The only issue are videos with 3+ performers because they tend to talk a lot in group scenes and their dialogs often overlap. I would say a video with 400-500 subtitles costs about 2-4€ in LLM API costs depending on the models you are using.
thats unfortunately only for videos who already have subtitles in the video.
