well there has been a lot of beastialty posts recently
I support the decision, and admit I’ve been wondering about the legality the site in the future when seeing some of the most extreme posts with this type of content. I’m also concerned this will be a slippery slope of banning other content as well, especially if we start having arguments such as a “a short woman must have large breasts” as has happened on other sites involving pornography.
For me personally, I used to tolerate these tags as there’s content that doesn’t focus on those aspects. Loli/shota may be included among other elements and sometimes I can appreciate a video despite their inclusion.
I did eventually mute tags I wasn’t interested in, but sometimes still willingly visited topics with them via the “New & Unread Topics” section.
If anyone’s interested in reasons why someone might think people should avoid indulging in fictional representation of unethical sex acts, I would recommend this video
I think it should be a personal choice how one engages with the content and it’s unfortunate that we can’t allow opt-in engagement with these tags.
This is an understandable decision and I’m personally not affected, but I’m not happy with it.
As a follow-up point:
- It sounds like there will still be conversations amongst the mod team about what makes a loli per site definition.
- Whatever decision is reached, to respect the site decision and find another place to host funscripts for this content. Basically, don’t try forcing it on this site.
- It may be a worthwhile matter for the site owner to look into alternative hosts not only for safety of their hosting, regardless of being able to host this specific type of content, but also bandwidth and server cost over time. I’ve found U.S. hosts are mainly geared towards companies with a lot of money and not friendly to content with nudity.
This might be a misread of the announcement.
Basically we are banning “loli / shota” content, and will be using “prepubscent-looking” as a dividing line for the execution.
The effect is that we’d be going over topics such as this one and discuss whether it should have the loli tag yoinked.
(so as many topics that were tagged loli before as a pre-emptive measure to prevent inflammation)
Oh! Yeah, on reading again that seems to be the case.
So is this the official announcement of the line adjustment Vlad mentioned in the lounge topic?
Kind of strange way to go about it, re-defining the tags to only consider prepubescent characters as loli/shota while allowing all other kinds of content?
Doesn’t this mean we should be going through the tags and remove it from anything that doesn’t look prepubescent?
Very messy solution if you ask me.
That is exactly what I did for my scripts
I’m usually against any kind of censorship, either everything is ok or nothing is.
But i’d much rather have a community and functioning website rather than defiantly “take a stand” for something that really, really doesn’t come remotely close to a 1984 situation, I saw a few of those comments.
I love ES, but it’s one porn site. learn how to find things yourself, and this kind of ban isn’t an issue. the threat of shutdown is real, and its a flip of a switch. Not some kind of banding together, thinking an online payment company will back off if we give a good enough argument, lmao.
move like reeds in the wind, scripters and script enjoyers, and the community will be fine.
Y_D
I can see why you’d want to remove Loli/Shota content, but why not just allow the scripts?
No links to downloads of any kind, just a name of the work. Shouldn’t that be fine?
Here are my two cents: obviously free speech is important and stuff, and where one draws the line so that it doesn’t infringe upon anybodys freedom while still maintaiing a collective moral standard is difficult. However, I think in this case the vast majority will agree that loli stuff is really critical and thus I agree of removing all of its content.
This was always the right call. You just can’t risk loosing this site or going to jail for that content and minority of users. That’s just how it is. I’m glad I won’t have to glance over this content too. Always was a problem in these communities. It was also always a big risk for the users. If down the line some government agency or service provider finds your browsing history and sees sites that support the content you could be fuuucked.
The problem will then become what is deemed loli or not. It’s dictated up to the mods in charge, which all have varying degrees as to what is considered loli or not.
Mantis-X, for example, says all of the characters featured are 18+. Would they be considered loli based on the appearance or the age the author gives? What are the criteria for the appearances that separates allowed vs banned?
Where is the fine line drawn and how do we know what is allowed and what isn’t before posts are made? I feel that these questions should be answered with something like a chart or a score sheet or something. Leaving it up to “I feel like it looks like a duck, so therefore is a duck” will lead to inconsistent moderation.
Also for those saying “You risk going to jail over this content” is pretty absurd. The vast majority of countries don’t even bother looking into this, let alone charging people, because it’s hard to prosecute. Here in the US, it’s completely fine and has been held up in court, so long as the material is not based upon real children (which 99.999999% of it is not).
Huh? Does that mean if the character is short or has a flat chest or school girl cosplay? For example will JAV actresses like Lala Kudo start getting banned?
I don’t really care for loli/shota but this is a slippery slope.
Yep It is, followed by anything else that isn’t vanilla missionary with vocally implied consent and even that may be deemed too offensive in the future.
To think this “moral” crusade began because the supreme court held them responsible for something they had no knowledge nor hand in. NOW they make sure they have hand in and decide what you can and cannot buy porn wise.
Nope it will never stop. “Violent” video games are next once the CC companies get some how sued for that too. They are already being soft censored.
Sorry for the schizofear rant. Censorship is scary and anyone wielding it as a weapon should be afraid of it backfiring.
Thank you for taking the right action on this type of content. Children shouldn’t be used in any form to live out sexual fantasies.
I totally understand the decision, it’s still quite sad
not a fan but who gets to decide?
Looks like Hugecat suffered from loli-induced insomnia that he immediately used a mimir after the announcement
My work is done. (Only 0.23% patched lol)
For creators who want to check which of their posts have loli/shota tag here is a humble link that should show them to you:
https://discuss.eroscripts.com/search?expanded=true&q=tags%3Aloli%2Cshota%20in%3Acreated%20order%3Alatest_topic
Of course, it won’t show posts that are not tagged or wrongly tagged so keep that in mind.
I’ve personally been to busy to create and that’ll likely not change, but I am naval gazing about this issue at the moment.
What if the tag was kept, but no previews and any links were provided and we’d just at most state a top level site name and like a post ID or title of the work?
There’s plenty of youtube comments in this “if you know, you know” vein.
I can understand a site owner feeling they might be held liable for an image being fingerprinted by the hoster or some agency, but is the stance that the funscript files themselves are inherently that type of content?
I am not trying to make the “it’s all 0 and 1’s anyway” argument, but funscripts themselves are not intrinsically pornographic.
